Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information
The LeMieux Gel-Tek Shaped Vegan-Wool Half Pad is an anatomically shaped half pad with a 7 mm thick layer of auxetic structural gel and a soft edge of quick-drying synthetic wool. The half pad was developed to give extra stability under the saddle without adding unnecessary bulk. The gel pattern helps limit saddle movement while following the movement of the horse's back.
About this half pad
What is special about this LeMieux half pad is the auxetic gel structure. This type of gel can flex with the movement without deforming permanently. The pad therefore follows the contours of the horse's skin and fascia. The gel can also be bent or rolled up without losing its original shape.
The non-slip effect helps reduce movement between horse and saddle. That makes this half pad interesting for riders looking for extra stability under the saddle while affecting the fit of a correctly fitted saddle as little as possible. Thanks to the relatively low profile, the combination stays compact under the saddle.
Heat build-up has been considered for more intensive work as well. The construction is breathable, so heat is less easily held under the saddle. The soft synthetic wool edge dries quickly and at the same time gives this LeMieux half pad its characteristic, well-finished look.
The pad is made hypoallergenic and, according to LeMieux, is therefore particularly suitable for sensitive horses. The shaped version makes it usable under different saddles when you are looking for a technical half pad that combines stability with a soft finish.
This version is available in several colours, so you can match it to your saddle pad and the rest of your kit. The technical job stays the same throughout: a flexible gel layer for stability, a breathable construction and a quick-drying synthetic wool edge.
One important point, though: a half pad is not a solution for a poorly fitting saddle. If the fit of your saddle is questionable, it should first be assessed professionally before you add a pad underneath.
