Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information
The LeMieux Kudos Thermo Layer Turnout in Navy is a waterproof turnout rug with a graded fill of 100 g or 300 g. The fill is thickest over your horse's topline and thinner towards the hem. This way the rug concentrates warmth where it is needed and stays less bulky. A detachable neck cover is included.
About this turnout rug
"Thermo Layer" refers to the way the fill is distributed. The thermobonded polyester fill is quilted so that it is densest over the shoulders, back and hindquarters. Further down the flanks there is a double layer, then a single layer towards the hem. LeMieux therefore positions the rug as suitable across several seasons, with less bulk than a rug filled evenly all over.
The outer fabric is 1680 denier ballistic weave: a heavy, tightly woven fabric that is waterproof and cut across the full width to prevent leaks. Inside there is a silky, anti-static 210T lining. LeMieux does not publish hydrostatic head or breathability figures for this rug.
Around the forehand, LeMieux uses elastic shoulder gussets that move with the horse and keep warmth in, a padded neck opening that folds down for extra protection against water, even while grazing, and the registered T-bar front closure set at 45° with hook-and-loop fastening. The patented two-part skirt, 3 crossed belly surcingles with a removable centre strap and a PVC-covered tail cord keep the rug in place. LeMieux describes it as "self-righting": it is designed to settle back into position by itself.
Within the LeMieux range at Maddelin, the Kudos Turnout is its closest relative: the same 1680 denier outer fabric, but with an evenly distributed fill. Choose the Thermo Layer when you want the warmth mainly over the topline and less bulk along the flanks.
