Size guide

A correct size is essential for both comfort and performance in equestrian sports. At Maddelin Equestrian, we are happy to help you choose the right size so that your equipment fits perfectly—whether it's riding apparel, helmets, boots, or accessories.
A well-fitting outfit not only ensures greater comfort but also better performance in the saddle. Clothing that is too tight or too loose can restrict your freedom of movement and affect your aids. Therefore, we recommend always measuring accurately and using our size charts as a guide.
Our size charts are organized by product category and brand, allowing you to choose as precisely as possible. Because fits can vary by brand, you will find specific information with each product to guide you.
How to measure correctly?
For the best results, always measure with a flexible tape measure, close to the body but without tightening.
-
Chest circumference: measure around the widest part of the chest
-
Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your waist
-
Hips: measure around the widest part of the hips
-
Inseam length: measure from groin to ankle
-
Head circumference (helmets): measure just above the eyebrows and ears
-
Calf circumference & height (boots/chaps): measure the widest part of the calf and the height from heel to hollow of the knee
If you are in doubt between two sizes? We usually advise choosing the larger size for extra comfort, unless otherwise stated with the product.
At Maddelin, we believe that the right fit makes all the difference between just riding and truly riding well. Use our size charts as a guide and confidently choose the size that suits you and your horse.
BR Loose Ring Waterford Snaffle – More control, less leaning
The BR Loose Ring Waterford Snaffle - 18 mm is the ideal choice for horses that tend to lean on the bit or become strong in the hand. Thanks to the unique, flexible design of the mouthpiece, this bit offers a clever solution for better communication between rider and horse.
Flexible mouthpiece with Waterford links
The mouthpiece consists of multiple round links that move independently. This makes it:
• More difficult for your horse to lean on the bit
• Possible for the links to adapt to different mouth shapes
• Suitable for horses with a thicker tongue or sensitive mouth
Cuprion material – Comfort and acceptance
The mouthpiece is made of Cuprion, a high-quality alloy with 91% copper. This offers several advantages:
• Stimulates salivation due to the oxidation process
• Pleasant taste and smell, making the horse accept the bit more quickly
• Adapts to body temperature for extra comfort
Perfect for training and correction
The Waterford loose ring snaffle gives you, the rider, more control with:
• Horses that become strong in the hand
• Horses that lean on the bit
• Training where you want to develop more balance and reaction
Due to its sharper action, this bit is particularly suitable for experienced riders with quiet hands and refined aids.
Specifications:
• Mouthpiece: Waterford links, Cuprion
• Bit thickness: 18 mm
• Ring diameter: 65 mm
• Bit type: Loose ring snaffle
• Ring material: Stainless steel
With the BR Waterford Loose Ring Snaffle, you as a rider get that little bit of extra control, without your horse becoming fixed or strong. A perfect choice for training where communication and balance are central.
