BR Waterford Snaffle Bit – 18mm | Optimal Control & Softer Contact
The BR Waterford Loose Ring 18 mm is the ideal choice for riders who deal with horses that stiffen, become strong, or tend to lean on the bit. Thanks to the unique Waterford construction—consisting of multiple flexible links—the bit remains loose and mobile in the mouth, making it impossible to grab. However, the action remains fair and comfortable when used correctly.
A bit that asks questions, not forces. Perfect for refining the connection and creating more lightness.
Why this bit works:
• Waterford links – Prevent binding, ideal for strong or dominant horses.
• Gentle pressure distribution – The flexible parts distribute the pressure evenly, making the action more gentle than the appearance suggests.
• Loose rings – For extra mobility, saliva formation and a looser fit.
• 18mm thickness – Comfortable mouthfeel and sufficient presence for riders looking for refined control.
• Stainless steel – Strong, durable and easy to keep clean.
Note: The Waterford bit requires steady, independent hands . Not suitable for inexperienced riders.
Maddelin Tip: Ideal for horses that become stronger than they'd like in work, but respond well to a flexible construction. Use it for a few rides to regain some lightness—then alternate with a softer bit for optimal training results.
