Product Information

Feeling Waterford Gag Bit – Flexibility and control in perfect balance

The Feeling Waterford Cheek Bit is a unique bit that provides optimal flexibility and extra control. Thanks to the unique Waterford mouthpiece—constructed with multiple rounded links—this bit conforms smoothly to the horse's mouth and distributes pressure evenly. Combined with the stable action of the cheek sides, this bit is ideal for horses that tend to try to grip the bit or are difficult to guide.

Unique benefits of the Waterford mouthpiece:

  • Movable in all directions : prevents grabbing and makes the bit 'unpredictable' for the horse

  • Flexible design : conforms to the mouth, increasing comfort

  • Even pressure distribution : no hard points in the mouth (provided they are soft in the hand)

  • Please note : Not suitable for inexperienced riders – this bit requires a delicate hand to work correctly and in a horse-friendly manner.

What does the gag action do?

  • Two side bars (toggles) prevent the bit from being pulled through the mouth

  • More pressure on the cheeks : makes steering easier, ideal for young or crooked horses

  • Very stable in the mouth : lies quietly, gives clear, honest aids

Extra tip: use with cheek piece loops Attach a cheek piece loop to the cheekpiece on either side of the bit.
This will allow you to slide the top clamp section through, which will allow for:

  • Extra leverage

  • More direct impact

  • Prevents toggles from getting under the noseband

Perfect for:

  • Horses that like to hang on the bit or grab it

  • Young horses in training that need extra guidance

  • Riders with feeling in their hands who are looking for refined communication

Maintenance: Clean with water and dry after use. Regularly check the links for wear.

Feeling – when you want control without sacrificing softness.

If in doubt about the correct bit choice, consult a bit fitter or instructor.

Regularly check the corners of your horse's mouth and its behaviour to see if the bit fits.

Rinse the bit after each ride and check it for wear or sharp edges.

For whom?

For riders looking for a bit that suits their horse's mouth and needs.

When do you use this?

During training and, if permitted by regulations, in competition.

For which horses?

The right bit choice depends on your horse's mouth conformation and preference; if in doubt, ask for advice.

When is an alternative better?

If your horse does not respond well to this mouthpiece, consult a bit fitter about alternatives.

Attach the bit to the bridle and adjust the height so that it rests gently in the corners of the mouth, without creating wrinkles or hanging too low. Rinse the bit after each ride.
