Trolle Colorado Grid Half-Zip Fleece Women

The Trolle Colorado Grid Half-Zip Fleece is a technical mid-layer for riders who want warmth without bulk. It is not a standard fleece pullover: it combines two different performance fabrics, each placed where it does the most work.

The body and collar are made from Grid Fleece by Tecnopile®. The fabric has a structured grid on the inside: the raised sections trap air, and therefore heat, while the channels between them move moisture away. The result is a layer that keeps you warm without going clammy, even once you have warmed up in the saddle.

The sleeves use Colorado by Carvico, a smooth warp-knit fabric with a brushed inner face. That combination gives stretch in every direction and a soft feel against the skin, without adding thickness to your arms while riding. Exactly where you need freedom of movement — shoulder, elbow, forearm — the fabric keeps giving.

What problem does this half-zip solve?

An ordinary fleece is warm, but traps moisture as soon as you work harder. A thin training top keeps you dry, but not warm. This half-zip sits in between: warm enough for cold mornings at the yard, breathable enough to keep on through a schooling session. The half-zip also lets you fine-tune ventilation — open while warming up, closed as you cool down.

Fit and finish

The cut is ergonomic: close-fitting, with room for a thin shirt underneath. The extended cuffs stay put under a jacket or glove and stop the sleeve riding up while your hands stay low. The half-zip has a branded puller and there is a logo patch on the sleeve. Beyond that, the design is deliberately quiet, in plain black.

Care

Wash on a delicate programme at low temperature, without fabric softener — softener leaves a film on the fibres and reduces exactly the moisture management you bought the grid fleece for. Avoid the tumble dryer; the fabric air-dries quickly.

Which discipline?

This half-zip is discipline-neutral and works equally well for dressage, jumping and eventing. It is not competition-legal clothing: for the ring, choose a show shirt and show jacket from the Trolle range. For training, warming up, teaching and yard work, it is one of the most versatile layers in the collection.
