Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Technical jersey, a sealed zip with printed detailing, a knitted Xdry panel with Balance technology and a back panel knitted with a star gradient. For dressage and showjumping riders who want a light polo under their jacket. At Maddelin in white, in XS, S and M.
About this competition polo
The Center Line Competition Polo Balance is the women's version of Trolle's competition polo. Trolle makes it in technical jersey, which the brand describes as breathable and quick-drying, with a sealed zip at the front carrying fine printed detailing. The Plus Tech logo sits on the right sleeve.
What sets this model apart within the series is the construction of the panels: a knitted Xdry panel with integrated Balance technology and a back panel knitted with a star gradient. Trolle names Sensitive Fabrics as the fabric used. What measurable effect Balance or Xdry have, the brand does not document.
The composition Trolle states for this model appears under the technical details, with the knitted panel listed separately. In practice you get a thin, very stretchy polo that sits close and lies flat under a jacket. A fabric like that is not warm: on cold days, wear a layer underneath.
On the rules, because that is the question that comes up most often here. In dressage the FEI lays down nothing about the shirt; article 431 asks only for a white or off-white stock or tie. The Belgian rules are concrete: a white shirt, and without a jacket sleeves that cover at least the shoulders. Short sleeves such as these meet that last requirement. In showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3 requires a white collar and a white tie, stock or choker, and short sleeves are permitted. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change from time to time; so check the current rulebook of your own federation.
The limitations come with it. The cut is a slim fit in Italian sizing and runs, according to Trolle, smaller than European sizing. White is sensitive to stains and to sweat marks. At Maddelin there is one colour and there are three sizes. And Trolle publishes no washing instructions for this model, so the label in the polo is the source for that.
