Cob suits a finer head, Full an average to large horse's head. With anatomical models, measuring matters more than with a classic straight bridle: the shape is fixed, so the size has to be right. Lay out your current noseband and headpiece and compare the lengths.

Set the headpiece so that it really sits behind the ears and does not press against the base of the ears. Keep about a hand's width of room under the throatlash and two fingers under the noseband. A broad noseband should sit high enough to stay on the bone, well above the soft part of the nose.

For the leather, a fixed routine works best. Wipe away sweat and sand after riding, clean regularly with leather soap and follow with leather balm or leather oil. Use a little product at a time and let it soak in. Let wet leather dry at room temperature. Hang the bridle on a wide bridle rack, so the shaped headpiece keeps its form.

This is a good choice if you are looking for an anatomical bridle without frills, for daily training and competition, in dressage, jumping or general sport work. Certainly if your horse is sensitive behind the ears, the broader pressure distribution of headpiece and noseband is worth considering.

If you are after pronounced decoration or crystals on the browband, our range has models that aim more at that. If you specifically want a grackle noseband, a drop noseband or a combined noseband with flash strap, look at a bridle that is equipped for it. This model is not suitable for a pony or a Shetland: it comes in Cob and Full.

The manufacturer describes the noseband as broad and softly padded, but does not state a type. We do not fill that in ourselves; ask us and we will look it up for you.

What makes an anatomical bridle different?
Headpiece and noseband are shaped to the head instead of cut straight, so pressure is spread over a larger area and the bridle sits more quietly.

How do I care for the leather?
