Product Information

Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Elliptical – 16 mm

Soft, refined action for a relaxed and active contact

The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Elliptical is a double-jointed bit specifically developed for horses that react sensitively to pressure in the mouth and need an even, gentle action. Thanks to its elliptical center piece and the stimulating Sweet Iron material, this bit encourages a quiet mouth, better salivation, and refined communication between rider and horse.

The elliptical center piece lies flatter on the tongue than a classic double-jointed bit, distributing pressure more evenly across the tongue and bars. This prevents pinpoint pressure and helps the horse stay softer on the bit.

The Sweet Iron material oxidizes on contact with saliva, releasing a slightly sweet taste. This encourages the horse to chew actively and accept the bit better. The loose rings also provide extra freedom of movement, making the contact looser and more natural.

An excellent choice for horses that quickly become stiff, are sensitive in the mouth, or need more relaxation in the contact.

• Elliptical center piece – soft, even pressure distribution

• Sweet Iron material – stimulates salivation and relaxation

• Double-jointed – gentle on tongue and bars

• Loose rings – more freedom of movement and refined aids

• 16 mm thickness – comfortable and suitable for most horses

• Wide range of use – dressage, jumping, and recreational riding

If in doubt about the correct bit choice, consult a bit fitter or instructor.

Regularly check the corners of your horse's mouth and its behaviour to see if the bit fits.

Rinse the bit after each ride and check it for wear or sharp edges.

For whom?

For riders looking for a bit that suits their horse's mouth and needs.

When do you use this?

During training and, if permitted by regulations, in competition.

For which horses?

The right bit choice depends on your horse's mouth conformation and preference; if in doubt, ask for advice.

When is an alternative better?

If your horse does not respond well to this mouthpiece, consult a bit fitter about alternatives.

Attach the bit to the bridle and adjust the height so that it rests gently in the corners of the mouth, without creating wrinkles or hanging too low. Rinse the bit after each ride.

Which size should I choose?

Measure your horse's mouth width and consult the size chart.

Is this bit competition legal?

Check the rules of your discipline and federation for certainty.

How do I maintain the bit?

Rinse with water after each ride and regularly check for wear and tear.

How do I know if this bit fits?

Look for relaxed chewing and a quiet contact; if in doubt, ask a bit fitter for advice.
