Bucas Sun Shower Rain Outdoor Blanket

Use the Sun Shower in spring, summer and on mild autumn days, within the temperature range Bucas gives. Bear in mind that, according to Bucas, this range depends on whether your horse is clipped, and on sun, humidity, wind and activity. Regularly slide your hand under the rug at the withers to check your horse is not too warm.

Wash the rug as little as possible. Before washing, close the Velcro and the surcingles, wash at a maximum of 30 °C with Bucas Rug Wash and then treat the outer fabric with Bucas Rug Conditioner. Do not tumble dry.

The Sun Shower suits horses that live out in the warmer season and need to stay dry in the rain, and owners looking for a rug that does not get too warm in sunny weather.

When it is cooler and wet, the Bucas Anniversary Turnout is an alternative: also without fill, but with a 600 denier ripstop outer fabric and a Stay-dry fleece lining that wicks moisture away from the skin, with a recommended range of roughly 3 to 16 °C. Put the rug on and first close the T-bar with the magnetic Snap-lock at the front. Then fasten the cross surcingles under the belly, pass the tail cord under the tail and, if you wish, attach leg straps to the points provided. To remove, reverse the order.

Wash at a maximum of 30 °C with the Velcro and surcingles closed, using Bucas Rug Wash, and do not tumble dry.

How do I measure the right size for a Bucas rug?
Measure from the centre of the chest, over the highest point of the shoulder, to the back of the hindquarters. The first number in our size notation is the Bucas size.

At what temperature should I use the Sun Shower?
Bucas gives a recommended range of roughly 10 to 20 °C. Clipping, sun, humidity, wind and activity all play a part.

Does the Sun Shower also protect against the sun?
Bucas describes the silver colour as heat-reflective: it reflects sunlight. Bucas does not list UV protection for this model.
