Product Information

The Stübben Contour Spring Girth is an anatomically shaped jumping girth with a belly flap, designed to protect the underside of the horse during jumping while maintaining sufficient freedom of movement. The girth is made of durable leather and has a one-piece anatomical construction without a central seam, creating a smooth contact surface on the horse's belly.

The wide belly flap provides targeted protection during jumping. This is particularly relevant for horses that bring their front legs far under their body, where horseshoes or studs could come into contact with the belly during the jump. The anatomical Contour shape is designed to maintain freedom of movement and distribute pressure as evenly as possible.

On the inside, Stübben uses softly padded cushion leather. This ensures soft and even contact with the horse's belly. For the outside, sturdier, easy-care leather is used, which can withstand the intensive use for which a jumping girth is intended.

At both ends there are triple elastic inserts. This allows the girth to give on both sides when girthed and during the horse's movement. The stainless steel buckles ensure durable fastening.

The Contour is also practical for attaching additional equipment. Below the elastic parts are stainless steel D-rings, and a fastening point is also provided centrally on the girth. A breastplate or suitable training aids, for example, can be attached here.

The Stübben Contour is available in 120, 125, 130, 135, 140 and 145 cm. You do not need to choose a different size for the anatomical shape: Stübben advises taking the same length as your current, well-fitting jumping girth.

This Stübben girth is particularly interesting for show jumpers, especially if the horse jumps with studs or horseshoes and wide belly protection is desired.

Always tighten the girth gradually and evenly on both sides. Then let your horse walk a few steps and check the girth again. Stübben explicitly warns not to overtighten the girth.

Who is it for?

For show jumpers looking for an anatomical leather girth with a wide belly guard.

When to use?

During show jumping training and competitions where protection of the horse's belly against fore hooves or studs is desired.

For which discipline?

The Contour has been specifically developed for show jumping.

When is an alternative better?

For dressage with long girth straps, you need a dressage girth suitable for that purpose. If your horse does not need a protective belly flap, an anatomical girth without a belly plate can be a less bulky alternative.

Center the girth and check that the belly flap is positioned correctly under the horse. Tighten the girth gradually and evenly on both sides. Ensure the horse can move freely and do not over-tighten the girth. Let the horse walk a few steps and then recheck the tension.

Maintenance

Regularly remove sweat and dirt with a damp cloth. Then treat the leather with suitable leather care products to keep it supple and protect it from the effects of sweat and use. Avoid thoroughly soaking the leather. According to Stübben, regular, mild maintenance is the best way to keep the material in good condition.
