Description
The Cavalor Sportmash Recup is a protein-rich mash for horses, intended for use after training or competition. It is a mash you soak in warm water, which also gets extra fluid into your horse. The formula combines readily digestible protein sources and a balanced amino acid profile with electrolytes. You feed it ideally soon after intensive work.
About this mash
The formula contains 24% crude protein and draws on soya, potato protein, alfalfa and wheat feed flour as protein sources. According to Cavalor it is not only the total protein content that matters, but also digestibility and the ratio between the various amino acids. The composition is therefore built around that amino acid profile.
Sportmash Recup also contains sodium, potassium and chloride. These electrolytes are lost through sweat during exertion and are put back through the mash. Sodium chloride makes up 2% of the composition.
The mash is soaked before feeding. Cavalor advises mixing 1 part Sportmash Recup with 2 parts water at around 60 °C and letting it stand for 20 minutes. The recommended amount is 120 g per 100 kg of body weight: for a 600 kg horse that works out at 720 g. Feed the mash preferably within 30 minutes after training or competition.
Alongside 24% crude protein, the analytical values include 4.9% crude fat, 7.3% crude fibre, 7% sugar and 18% starch. The formula is further supplemented with vitamins A, D3 and E, various B vitamins, biotin and trace elements such as copper, zinc, manganese and selenium.
