First wipe hair and dirt off the blades, then apply a few drops of oil, spread over the teeth and on the sides where the blades run against each other. Let the clipper run for a moment so the oil spreads, and wipe off the excess so that no oil ends up in the coat. Repeat this regularly during the clip; exactly how often depends on your clipper and on the coat you are working on, so follow your clipper's manual in the first place.

After clipping you clean the blades and leave a thin film of oil on them before you put them away. That keeps them running smoothly and counters corrosion. Blades you consistently keep clean and oiled stay sharp for longer. If they do go blunt in the end, you can have them re-sharpened by our sharpening service, handed in properly cleaned.

What is clipper oil actually for?
The oil forms a thin film between the moving top blade and the fixed bottom blade. That lowers the friction, keeps the blades running cooler and slows down wear.

Do I oil before or after clipping?
Both. Before and during clipping so the blades run smoothly, and after cleaning another thin layer before you put the blades away.

Will this oil suit my clipper?

How much oil should I apply?

Do I need to clean the blades first?
Yes. Brush away hair and dirt before you oil, otherwise you work that dirt in between the blades.

Which bottle do I pick, 100 ml or 500 ml?
If you clip your own horse now and then, 100 ml is enough and the bottle travels easily. If you clip a lot or work with several clippers, 500 ml is handier.

Will my blades stay sharp because of this?
Oiling keeps the blades running smoothly and counters premature wear, but blades always go blunt eventually. You can then have them re-sharpened by our sharpening service.
