Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

These are not stirrups but a set of pins for the Freejump Soft'Up Lite. The pin sits on the small branch of the stirrup and is swappable: that way you give the same stirrups a different motif, here the France one. The set consists of two pins and a key, so you can change them yourself without coming into the shop.

About these pins

Freejump makes the small branch of the Soft'Up Lite with a removable pin. That pin is the little piece you see on the outside of the stirrup, and that is exactly the piece you can exchange. The brand supplies the pins per pair, with a key included, in solid colours, prints and national flags. This set carries the France motif.

What you do with them. A new set of pins is the least expensive way to change the look of your stirrups. If you ride a show in national colours, or want the stirrups to match your saddle pad, you swap the pins alone and keep your own stirrups. According to Freejump that takes a few minutes. You need no tools from the shop: the key is in the set.

Material and service life. Freejump states that the pins are made from wear-resistant materials and stand up to use and weather. Which material that is exactly, the manufacturer does not say. The pins sit on the outside of the stirrup and therefore take mud, sand and rain; reckon on the motif fading or scratching in time, as with any component that lives outdoors.

What they fit, and what they do not. Freejump lists these pins expressly for the Soft'Up Lite and says they fit without changing anything about the way the stirrup works. They do not fit the Soft'Up Pro, the Soft'Up Pro Plus, the Soft'Up Classic or the Air Pure. The new Soft'Up Pro has its own pins. So if you do not ride a Soft'Up Lite, this set is of no use to you.

Clean and dry the small branch before you change the pin; sand in the opening works against you. Keep the old pins instead of throwing them away, so that you can go back to your usual look after a show. Check after your first ride whether the new pins are still tight, and then check again at every grooming session; a pin that starts to work loose simply gets tightened again with the key. Store the key with your grooming kit, because without that little piece you will not get the next set swapped. And check first that your stirrups really are Soft'Up Lite.

This set is there for anyone who already rides Freejump Soft'Up Lite stirrups and wants to change the motif: a junior rider going to a show in national colours, or someone who wants their kit to match. If you do not yet have a Soft'Up Lite, you start with the stirrups themselves. If you ride a Soft'Up Pro, Pro Plus, Classic or Air Pure, this is of no use to you: these pins do not fit those. And if you are only looking for more grip or for new studs, this is the wrong component; that is about the studs in the sole, not the pin on the branch.

Clean and dry the small branch of the stirrup first. Unscrew the old pin with the supplied key, fit the new pin and tighten it until it no longer moves. Do that for both stirrups. Check after your first ride whether the pins are still tight and look them over at every grooming session after that. The pins themselves are wiped with a soft cloth and water; keep the stiff brush for the sole of the stirrup.

Are these stirrups?

No. This is a set of two pins with a key, meant to change the motif on the small branch of the Freejump Soft'Up Lite. The stirrups themselves are bought separately.

Which stirrups do these pins fit?

Freejump lists them expressly for the Soft'Up Lite. They do not fit the Soft'Up Pro, the Soft'Up Pro Plus, the Soft'Up Classic or the Air Pure; the new Soft'Up Pro has its own pins.

What is in the set?

Two pins, so a set for both stirrups, and a key to swap them with.

Can I swap them myself?

Yes. The key is included and according to the manufacturer the swap is done in a few minutes. Clean and dry the branch first.

Which motif is this?

This is the version with the France motif. Alongside country motifs, Freejump also has solid colours and prints in its range.

Do the pins change anything about the way the stirrup works?

According to Freejump the pins fit without altering the function or the performance of the Soft'Up Lite. Do check after the swap that they are properly tight.

How do I look after the pins?

Wipe them with a soft cloth and water and let them dry. Do not use a stiff brush: at Freejump that belongs on the sole of the stirrup only.

How do I know whether I ride a Soft'Up Lite?

The Soft'Up Lite is the smallest model in the Soft'Up range, listed up to shoe size EU 39, with a flexible outer branch and a pin on the small branch. If you are unsure, show us a photo of your stirrups.
