Break the Classic in with your usual stirrup leathers and look after a week whether your leg really hangs more quietly; the straight eye changes your foot position noticeably, and that takes some getting used to. Leathers with a broad strap fill the wide eye better and give less play. Keep an eye on the studs: as soon as the points are flattened, replace them with the studs kit, not when your boot starts to slip. Brush the sole out with a stiff brush after muddy or sandy rides and let the stirrups air-dry, so that the spring steel and the fitting stay dry.

Choose the Soft'Up Classic if you want a stirrup with a flexible outer branch and at the same time aim for a straight leg position, with a shoe size up to EU 44. It suits daily schooling in the arena as well as competition. If you jump a lot of courses or ride cross-country and want the eye angled at 45 degrees that lets your foot drop in faster, the Soft'Up Pro is the more logical choice within the Freejump range. For a young rider or a foot up to size 39 there is the Soft'Up Lite. And if you simply want a classic closed stirrup for dressage or hunter, without a moving branch, you end up at the Air Pure.

Slide the stirrup leather through the eye and check before every ride that the leather is secure, that the outer branch moves freely and that the studs are still tight. Cleaning goes like this, according to Freejump: a stiff brush, slightly damp, over the sole with the studs, and warm water with a soft cloth for the rest of the stirrup. Then air-dry, not next to the stove. Keep that brush away from the branch and the eye.

What is the difference between the Soft'Up Classic and the Soft'Up Pro?

The angle of the eye. On the Classic the eye sits straight, parallel to the tread, which turns the toe inwards and supports a straight leg position. On the Pro the eye sits at 45 degrees. The Classic is also listed up to shoe size EU 44.

How does the outer branch work?

The outer branch consists of Elastollan, a flexible material. Under pressure from the foot it deforms and opens, which according to the manufacturer makes it easier for the foot to come free in a fall; afterwards it returns to position. Freejump itself states that its stirrups do not fall under personal protective equipment.

Up to which shoe size does this stirrup go?

Freejump lists EU 44 as the upper limit.

Is this a stirrup for women?

Freejump developed the straight eye starting from the anatomy of the female pelvis. It is not a separate ladies' size: anyone looking for a straight leg position can ride this model.

Which stirrup leathers do I use with them?

All types fit. The eye is wider than usual, so leathers with a broad strap sit more closely and give less play.

Can I replace the studs myself?

Yes. Freejump's studs kit, with eighteen steel studs and a key, is listed for the Soft'Up Classic among others. Clean the worn studs with water and a brush before you unscrew them.

How do I maintain these stirrups?

A slightly damp stiff brush over the sole with the studs, warm water and a soft cloth for the branch and the eye, and then air-drying. Keep the stiff brush away from the other parts.

What do these stirrups weigh?

The manufacturer publishes no weight. If you want to compare the Classic with another model on that point, we will request it from the supplier.
