Cob generally suits a finer head, Full most warmbloods. Measure the circumference of the nose and the length of the cheekpieces before you choose, and take the larger size if you are in doubt: leather stretches slightly, while shortening is not an option.

On a slim bridle an uneven adjustment shows immediately, both visually and in the contact. Count the holes on the left and right cheekpieces so the bit hangs level and the headpiece sits symmetrically. Adjust the noseband so you can still fit two fingers underneath; the flash strap should sit looser than the noseband itself.

During the first few rides, check that the soft lining lies flat everywhere. A lining that folds does the opposite of what it is meant to do.

A simple routine is enough for maintenance: wipe off sweat and sand with a damp cloth, let the leather dry at room temperature and never near a heater, clean it with saddle soap and lightly oil the inside of the straps a few times a year. Hang the bridle on a wide hook, because a narrow hook leaves a kink in the headpiece.

Why is the headpiece wide and the rest slim?
The headpiece carries the weight of the bridle, so width helps to spread the pressure there. The other straps only pass that weight on and can stay slimmer.

Is this bridle suitable for a sensitive horse?
The wide, cut-back headpiece and the soft lining are designed precisely to spread pressure and limit friction. If your horse keeps reacting, always have the fit checked.

How do I care for the leather?
Wipe it down after use, dry it at room temperature, clean it with saddle soap and lightly oil it a few times a year.
