Kentucky Girth Wool/Sheepskin

Brush sand, hair and sweat out of the sheepskin after every ride. A layer that is full of dirt hardens and mats more quickly. Wash the girth regularly at 30 °C and let it air dry rather than tumble drying it. If you ride every day or have more than one horse, a second girth means you always have a dry one ready.

Choose the colour to suit your saddle and saddle pad: Brown or Brown/Natural under a brown saddle, Black or Black/Natural under a black one. If you work with schooling aids, attach them to the D-rings in the centre.

Choose the Kentucky Sheepskin Girth if you want a straightforward long girth with sheepskin for a saddle with short girth straps, and you like a girth that goes into the washing machine without taking anything apart. It suits daily schooling, hacking and leisure riding.

If you prefer an anatomical shape with room for the elbows, go for the Kentucky Sheepskin Anatomic Girth or, without sheepskin, the Kentucky Anatomic Girth. If you jump with studs, a stud girth such as the Kentucky Sheepskin Stud Girth is the better choice. With a dressage saddle or any other saddle with long girth straps you need a short girth, such as the Kentucky Sheepskin Short Girth.

First fasten the girth loosely to the girth straps on both sides, then tighten it gradually, alternating left and right, so the elastic works evenly on both sides. Check that the girth is still snug once you are in the saddle. After use, brush sweat and sand out of the sheepskin. Machine wash the girth at 30 °C and let it air dry; do not tumble dry.

Is the Kentucky Sheepskin Girth made of real wool?
No. The sheepskin is artificial, on a nylon fleece lining. According to Kentucky it contains no animal materials.

Is this girth anatomically shaped?
No. Kentucky makes a separate anatomical version with sheepskin: the Kentucky Sheepskin Anatomic Girth.

Which size do I need?
The size in cm is the total length from buckle to buckle. Measure your current girth the same way, or ask for advice in the shop.

Can the girth go in the washing machine?
Yes, at 30 °C. Let it air dry afterwards; it should not go in the tumble dryer.

Can I attach schooling aids?
Yes, there are 3 D-rings in the centre for schooling aids and other training equipment.

Which saddles is this girth for?
Saddles with short girth straps, such as most jumping and eventing saddles. For a saddle with long girth straps you need a short girth.

What is the difference between Black and Black/Natural?
In Black/Natural the girth is black with natural-coloured fleece in white to cream. The Black version is called 'Black/black' at Kentucky. If you are unsure which suits your saddle, check the product photos or come and compare them in the shop.
