When adjusting, set the anatomic headpiece symmetrically behind the ears and count the same number of holes on the left and right cheekpieces. An anatomic headpiece that is pulled crooked loses its advantage. Adjust the noseband so you can still fit two fingers underneath.

Clean around the crystals with care. Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth and avoid letting grease or soap build up around the settings, because that dulls the shine and is hard to remove. For the crystals themselves, use a dry, soft cloth or a soft brush. The plain leather of the headpiece, cheekpieces and reins is treated in the usual way with saddle soap and now and then a thin layer of grease.

Keep the bridle on a wide bracket, preferably in a cover if you do not use it daily. That keeps the crystals free of dust and stops them rubbing against other tack.

If what you actually want is a sober bridle without crystals for daily schooling in all weathers, a plain leather model from our range is more practical: less cleaning around the settings and less chance of damage. If you already have reins you are used to, a bridle without reins makes more sense. And if you ride a pony or a horse with a fine head, look at a model that is supplied in several sizes.
