Kingsland Show Bodystocking KLjess Ladies Short Sleeve

The Kingsland KLjess is not an ordinary competition shirt but a show bodystocking: a one-piece competition garment with short sleeves for women, stocked here in white and in size S (EU 36 / IT 40). A body continues below the waist instead of ending loose inside your breeches. The model comes from the summer 2024 collection and is no longer in Kingsland's current collection.

About this competition shirt

A bodystocking is a one-piece garment: the top continues into a bottom instead of ending at the waist. That is the whole difference with an ordinary competition shirt. With a shirt you tuck the fronts into your breeches and the fabric can ride up as you ride, so that folds appear under your jacket or a piece of shirt comes out at the top of your breeches. With a one-piece garment that cannot happen at the waist: there is no hem that can come out. That is the reason riders choose a body, and it is why Kingsland placed this model alongside the ordinary show shirts.

How Kingsland made this body exactly, the manufacturer no longer documents. The model is no longer in Kingsland's catalogue, not in its international webshop and not in the German one. As a result the fibre composition, the way the bottom part fastens, the collar type, the presence of mesh panels, the fabric weight, the size guide and the washing instructions are all missing. How this model fastens at the bottom is therefore not established, even though press studs are usual on a body. What is established from the product name and the variant in our webshop: it is a women's body with short sleeves, in white, in size S. The care label in the garment remains the source for the composition and the washing instructions for now.

The rules here are the same as for a shirt, because the rules look at what the jury sees. In showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3 asks for a white collar, white cuffs with long sleeves and a white tie, stock or choker; short sleeves are permitted, including under a jacket. If the ground jury allows riding without a jacket in very warm weather, the top must then have sleeves, short or long; sleeveless is not allowed. In dressage, the FEI rules set no requirement for the shirt, only for the stock or tie, which must be white or off white; the Belgian rules require a white shirt on top of that, and without a jacket sleeves that cover at least the shoulders. Rules differ by federation, discipline and country and change regularly: check your own federation's rules.

A body also has drawbacks, and they come with it. Going to the toilet with a body under breeches takes time, and how simple that is on this model depends on a fastening that Kingsland does not document. A one-piece garment has to fit the length of your upper body, not just your chest measurement: if it is too short, it pulls at the shoulder. There is only one size here, so trying it on is the only way to know. And white asks for care, as with every competition garment.
