Match the rest of your turnout before you choose this finish: pink gold comes out quietly next to dark leather and next to accessories in the same warm shade, and clashes with a turnout built entirely on cool metal tones. Store the stirrups loose rather than against other metal, so the finish does not chafe. Rinse them after sand or mud and let them dry before you put them away: dirt in the mechanism makes the arm stiff. At every cleaning, look whether the arm opens and folds back smoothly and whether the sole is still firmly on. Do not use abrasive products or metal polish, because these attack a coloured finish faster than untreated aluminium.
