Lister Shearing R15 oil

Top the oil up regularly while clipping and do not wait until the blades feel hot. First remove the hair between the blades with a brush: oil on a dirty blade binds the hair into a paste that works against the movement. Then apply a few drops to the cutting surfaces and to the sides of the blade, let the machine run for a few seconds so the oil spreads, and wipe off the excess with a cloth.

After clipping, wipe the blades dry and apply a final film of oil before you put them away. If you also want to clean and cool the blades in between, combine the oil with a maintenance spray or dip from our Clip 'N Care range. Those carry hair and dirt away; alongside them the oil is still needed for lubrication.

This oil is the right choice if you clip yourself and look after your own blades, whatever make of machine you have. It suits the rider who clips one horse a season just as well as the groom or clipper who does several in a row.

If what you mainly want is something that flushes hair and dirt out from between the blades and cools the blade set quickly, the Clip 'N Care Blade Care spray or dip from our range fits better. They do not replace the oil, they complement it. If your blades have truly gone blunt, oil will no longer solve that and it is better to have them sharpened.

What exactly is clipper oil for?
It lubricates the moving cutting surfaces, carries away the heat produced by friction and keeps the steel protected against rust. As a result your machine runs lighter and the blades hold their edge longer.

Does this oil suit my clipper?
The R15 is suitable for all makes and types of clipper, both for screw-on blades and for snap-on blade sets. If you are unsure about the maintenance of your machine, feel free to contact us.

How often should I re-oil?
Regularly while clipping, and certainly every time the blades get warmer or move more slowly through the coat. After clipping you oil again, just before you store the blades.

How much oil do I use each time?
A few drops on the cutting surfaces is enough. Too much oil attracts hair and dust, so always wipe off the excess with a cloth.

Does this oil replace a cleaning product?
No. Oil lubricates and protects, but does not flush hair and dirt away. Brush the blades clean first or use a cleaning maintenance spray or dip for that.

Can I also use the oil for clipping cattle or sheep?
Yes. The R15 is intended for clipping horses, cattle, sheep and other animals.

Does the oil leave marks on the coat?
The oil is clear and leaves no greasy residue. After oiling, always wipe the excess off the blade before you clip on.
