Heiniger Screw-on Blade Set Vet 53/23 1.0 mm

Oil the blade regularly while clipping, roughly every ten minutes, and certainly before you start and when you stop. The oil lets the top and bottom blade run smoothly over each other and carries the heat away; a blade running dry gets hot quickly and loses its edge sooner. Brush the hair out of the teeth in between and wipe the blade dry before you store it.

For the blade tension, follow the instructions for your clipper: too loose gives an uneven cut and pulls at the hair, too tight causes extra heat and wear. Choose the 53/23 if your clipper works with Heiniger screw-on blades and you want a very short result. For an ordinary clip on a clean coat a 31/15 or 31/23 with 2 to 4 mm is enough; if you want something shorter but not extremely short, the 31F/15 and 31F/23 with 1 to 2 mm sit in between.

If you work with a Heiniger Saphir or Opal, you do not need screw-on blades but snap-on blade sets. If you want a short cut there, look within that range at a blade set such as the #15W with 1.0 mm. If you are unsure about your clipper, let us know before you order.

Does this fit my clipper?
This set belongs to Heiniger's screw-on blade system. Within the Heiniger range the Xperience, Xplorer and Progress work with screw-on blades; the Saphir, Opal and Onyx work with snap-on blade sets and are therefore not compatible. If your clipper is not listed or you are unsure, get in touch with us before you order.

How much coat does this set leave?
1.0 mm. That is very short.

What do the numbers 53 and 23 mean?
The first number indicates the bottom blade and sets the cutting height, the second number the moving top blade. The top blade does not change the cutting length.

Can I combine these blades with a snap-on blade set?
No. Screw-on blades and snap-on blade sets are two different systems and are not interchangeable.

What is the difference with a 31F set?
The 31F sets leave 1 to 2 mm, the 53/23 clips at 1.0 mm and therefore shorter.

Can I have this blade sharpened?
Yes. Maddelin sharpens blades of all brands and for all clippers. Hand them in cleaned; for dirty blades a surcharge is added. Allow a waiting time of one to two weeks.

How often should I oil?
Roughly every ten minutes of clipping, and every time before and after use. Oil keeps the blades cool and lets them run smoothly over each other.

Why does my blade get hot while clipping?
Heat comes from the friction between the top and bottom blade and from hair caught between the teeth. Oiling regularly, brushing out in between and a correct blade tension keep the temperature under control.
