Wahl Supera Razor #9W 2 mm

Before you start, put a few drops of oil on the teeth and repeat that every few minutes while clipping. A blade set that runs dry gets hot and starts to pull at the coat. If it still feels warm, set it aside for a moment and carry on with a second blade set so the first one can cool down. After the clip, brush the hair out from between the teeth, oil again and store the blade set dry.

If you often work through full clips, a combination is the handiest: this wide #9W for the body, and a shorter blade set for the finishing work around the head, jawline and legs. If the blade set goes blunt, which you notice from stripes or from a clipper that has to push, have it resharpened through our sharpening service. Hand it in properly cleaned and allow one to two weeks.

Choose the #9W if you have a Wahl KM Supera and want to work through a full clip while deliberately leaving some coat. The wide cutting width works in your favour on large areas: back, ribs, neck and shoulder. For yards clipping several horses one after the other, that saves noticeable time.

If you want to clip shorter and tighter, for instance on sport and competition horses, the Wahl Supera #10W at 1.5 mm from the same range is the better choice. If your clipper works with screw-on blades, such as the Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer and Progress, you do not need a snap-on blade set but a screw-on blade set.

Click the blade set onto the clipper without tools; there is no blade tension to set. Apply a few drops of oil to the teeth before you start and repeat every few minutes. If the blade set still feels hot, put it down for a while and carry on with a second one so the first can cool.

After clipping, brush the hair out from between the teeth, oil again and store the blade set dry. If you see streaks or the clipper has to push, have it resharpened, handed in properly cleaned.

Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set is made for the Wahl KM Supera. It works with the A5 fitting, a de facto standard that also comes back on the Heiniger Saphir and Opal, Andis and Aesculap. It does not fit the Wahl 5-in-1 clippers such as the Adore, Admire, Adelar and Arco, and it does not fit clippers with screw-on blades. If your clipper is not listed, get in touch with us before you order.

How much hair does 2 mm leave?
A thin, even layer. Enough to give the horse some cover, short enough for a tidy result. If you want it tighter, look at the #10W at 1.5 mm.

What does the W after the number mean?
The W stands for wide: the blade set has a wider cutting width than the standard version. That makes it faster on large areas.

Does number 9 mean the same thing on every brand?
No. The numbering is not standardised between manufacturers, and the same numbers can give different millimetres from brand to brand. So always look at the cutting height stated on the item itself.

Does this blade set fit my Wahl Adelar or Arco?
No. Those clippers work with the Wahl 5-in-1 system, which has its own fitting and its own blade. An A5 blade set does not go on there.

Can I have the blade set sharpened?
Yes. We sharpen every brand and every clipper. Hand the blade set in properly cleaned, in the shop or by post; the turnaround is one to two weeks.

How do I keep the blade set from getting hot?
Oil every few minutes and brush the hair out from between the teeth. If you are working for a long stretch, alternate with a second blade set so the first one can cool down.
