Choose the #10W if you have a Wahl KM Supera and want to clip your horse short: sport horses in full work, competition horses that have to look sharp, or horses that sweat quickly and need to dry off fast after work. The wide cutting width makes the job faster on large areas.

If you want to leave a little more coat, for instance on a horse that still goes out after clipping, the Wahl Supera #9W at 2 mm from the same range suits better. If you have a clipper with screw-on blades, such as the Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, you need a screw-on blade set and not a snap-on blade set.

This complete snap-on blade set with an A5 fitting is made for the Wahl KM Supera. It does not fit Wahl machines with the 5-in-1 system, such as the Adore, Admire, Adelar and Arco, nor clippers with screw-on blades. The W stands for a wider cutting path, handy on the back, flank and neck; around the head and along the legs you steer more precisely with a narrower blade set. The number is not a measure shared across makes: this blade set clips at 1.5 mm.

Oil is what keeps the blade set cool and running smoothly. Put a few drops on the teeth before clipping and repeat every few minutes. A dry blade set gets hot and starts to pull at the coat, and the horse lets you know straight away. Afterwards, brush the hair out from between the teeth, oil again and store the blade set dry.

For a full clip you work fastest with two blade sets: this wide #10W for the body, and one for the detail around the head, jawline and legs. That also saves you carrying on with a blade set that has gone warm. If the result turns streaky or the clipper has to push, the blade set is blunt and you have it resharpened through our sharpening service. Hand it in properly cleaned; turnaround is one to two weeks.

You click the blade set onto the clipper without tools; there is no blade tension to adjust. Apply a few drops of oil to the teeth before clipping and repeat every few minutes. For a full clip, work with a second blade set so you are not carrying on with a hot one.

Afterwards, brush the hair out from between the teeth, oil again and store the blade set dry. If it leaves streaks, have it resharpened, handed in properly cleaned.

Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set is made for the Wahl KM Supera and works with the A5 fitting, which also appears on the Heiniger Saphir and Opal, Andis and Aesculap. It does not fit the Wahl 5-in-1 clippers such as the Adore, Admire, Adelar and Arco, and it does not fit clippers with screw-on blades. How short does 1.5 mm clip?
Short and tight. You are left with a short, closed coat in which lines stay sharply marked. If you want to leave more hair, look at the #9W at 2 mm.

What does the W in #10W mean?
The W stands for wide: a wider cutting width than the standard version. That gets you over the body faster.

Does number 10 give the same cutting height on every brand?
No. The numbering differs from manufacturer to manufacturer and is not standardised. So always look at the millimetres stated on the item itself; for this Wahl Supera blade set that is 1.5 mm.

What is the difference with the #9W?
The cutting height. The #9W clips at 2 mm and leaves more coat, the #10W clips at 1.5 mm and finishes tighter. Both are wide blade sets for the same clipper.

Can I have the blade set sharpened?
Yes. We sharpen every brand and every clipper. Bring the blade set in properly cleaned or send it to us; allow one to two weeks.

How do I keep the blade set cool?
By oiling regularly and brushing the hair out from between the teeth. On long clips, alternate with a second blade set so the first one can cool down.
