Lubricate the blades before clipping, every ten to fifteen minutes during the session and once more afterwards. Oil keeps the blades cool; hot blades clip less well and wear faster. Brush the hair out from between the teeth before you put the clipper away and never leave the blades dirty in the case.

The 31F/15 leaves little coat. If you are clipping a horse in autumn that still lives out, a set with more cutting height is the better choice. Anyone who clips regularly does well to keep a second set ready, so you can carry on working while the first one is with us for sharpening. Hand those blades in properly cleaned; dirty blades cost extra.

This clipper suits anyone who clips several animals per season and takes off a full coat: livery yards, breeders, competition yards and horse owners who do the job themselves. The combination with the 31F/15 set is aimed at a clean horse coat that you want to finish short and tight.

If you want to clip in places without a socket, a cordless clipper within our Heiniger range is the better place to look. If your main job is tidying up the head, ears and legs, a small trimmer is handier than this machine. And if you would rather change blade sets without a screwdriver, a snap-on clipper such as the Saphir or the Opal is the right fit.

Use the lower speed (2600 rpm) calmly around the head, neck and legs and the higher one (2900) to move faster over the body. Oil the blades before clipping, every ten to fifteen minutes during the clip and again afterwards.

Use the supplied brush to clear the hair from between the teeth and never leave the blades dirty in the transport case.

Which blades or blade sets fit this clipper?
The Xperience works with Heiniger screw-on blades; snap-on blade sets from the Saphir or the Opal, for instance, do not fit it. As standard you get the 31F/15 set. If you want a different cutting height, let us know your clipper model and we will check which set fits it.

What does 31F/15 actually mean?
The first number is the bottom blade and sets the cutting height. The F stands for fine and halves that cutting height to 1 to 2 mm. The second number is the moving top blade; that does not change the cutting length.

How short does this set clip?
Between 1 and 2 mm. That is meant for a fine-coated horse and a tight finish.

What are the two speeds for?
With the lower setting you work more calmly and quietly around sensitive areas, with the higher setting you get on faster over the body and through thicker coat.

Can I clip cattle with it?
Yes. For cattle with a dirty coat, do choose a blade set with more cutting height and teeth set further apart than the 31F/15 supplied.

How often should I lubricate?
Before the session, every ten to fifteen minutes while clipping and once more afterwards. That keeps the blades cool and sharp for longer.

Can I have the blades sharpened?
Yes, we do that for all makes and all clippers. Hand the blades in cleaned; dirty blades cost extra. Allow one to two weeks.

Is this clipper quiet enough for a young horse?
The clipper is low in vibration and runs more calmly on the lower setting. Heiniger does not state a noise level in decibels for this model, so we do not quote one.
