Heiniger Clipper Head 15 1.2 mm

After every clip, brush the hairs out from between the teeth and put clipper oil on the cutting edge before you put the blade set away. While clipping, oil regularly too: the oil carries the heat away and keeps the blades running smoothly. Store the blade set dry, because moisture and hair residue attack the cutting edge sooner.

For detail work it helps to use a calm, quiet machine and to keep the blade set cool: put it aside for a moment when it gets hot and pick up a second one in the meantime. Have your blade sets and blades sharpened in good time instead of using them until they pull: a blunt cutting edge runs hotter and gives an uneven clipping result. Maddelin sharpens blades and blade sets of all makes; hand them in properly cleaned.

Choose the #15 when you want to finish accurately: the transitions of a partial clip, the jawline, the areas around the ears, the lower legs or a tidy touch-up before a competition. It is also a useful choice when you simply want to clip a little shorter than with a #10.

If you have large areas to do, you work faster with a wide blade set such as the #10WF (1.5 mm) or the #10W (2.3 mm): fewer passes over the same area. If you want to leave more coat on, look at the #7 (3.2 mm) or the #5 (6.3 mm). If you have a Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, you do not need a snap-on blade set but a screw-on blade set, for instance the 31/15.

Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set fits the Heiniger Saphir and the Heiniger Opal. It does not fit a Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, which work with screw-on blades. The snap-on fitting is used by other makes in our range as well, but if your machine is not listed here, get in touch before you order.

How short does the #15 clip?
The cutting height is 1.2 mm. That is shorter than the #10 at 1.5 mm.

What is the difference with the #10?
Only the cutting height: 1.2 mm against 1.5 mm. The #15 therefore leaves slightly less coat on.

What is the Red line version?
Red line is the newer version of the Heiniger blade sets #10, #15, #30 and #40. Those blade sets are sharpened to an optimised grind, specially hardened and chrome-finished, and according to Heiniger develop less heat. The cutting height per number stays the same.

What do I use this blade set for on a horse?
For finishing and detail work: the jawline, the areas around the ears, the lower legs and the transitions of a partial clip. For the body you work faster with a wider blade set.

Why does my blade set get hot?
Usually because of too little oil or because of a blunt cutting edge. Oil regularly and have the blade set sharpened as soon as it starts to pull.

Can this blade set be sharpened?
Yes. Maddelin sharpens blades and blade sets of all makes. Hand them in properly cleaned.

Can I swap blade sets between my Saphir and my Opal?
Yes. Heiniger confirms that the blade sets of both machines are interchangeable with each other.
