This blade set is the right choice if you have an A5 clipper and want to clip a horse short without endless strokes. It suits a full winter coat that has to come off, show and competition preparation, and touching up a horse that has been clipped before. For dressage, showjumping, eventing or leisure riding it makes no difference: it is about the finish you want, not about the discipline.

If you mainly work on small, sensitive areas such as ears and muzzle, a narrower 40 mm blade set is handier to hold. If you want to leave more coat, choose a blade set with a higher cutting height from our range. And if you have a Wahl Adore, Admire or Adelar, you do not need an A5 blade set but a 5-in-1 blade.

Does this fit my clipper?
Yes, if your clipper works with A5 snap-on blade sets. That is the system where you click a complete blade set onto the clipper. Aesculap states that blade sets from Heiniger, Oster, Wahl and Andis fit that same system. If your clipper is not listed or you are unsure, get in touch before you order.

What is the difference between size 15 and 15W?
Aesculap's size 15 clips at 1.2 mm over a 40 mm width. The 15W clips shorter, at 1.0 mm, and does so over a wider 60 mm path.

Can I use this blade set on a Wahl Adore, Admire or Adelar?
No. Those clippers work with the Wahl 5-in-1 system, which is separate from A5. A 5-in-1 blade does not fit an A5 clipper, and conversely an A5 blade set does not fit an Adelar.

How short does 1.0 mm clip?
Short. The horse is left with a short, even coat. If you want to leave more hair because the horse lives out or is lightly rugged, choose a blade set with a higher cutting height.

Is this blade set suitable for detail work?
For the head, neck and legs it works well. For very small spots such as around the ears a narrower 40 mm blade set is handier, because you need less working width there.

Do I have to oil this blade set?
Yes. Oil before you start and then every ten to fifteen minutes. That keeps the blade set cooler and makes it last longer.

Can this blade set be sharpened?
Yes. Hand it in neatly cleaned, because dirty blades cost extra. Allow a waiting time of one to two weeks.
