Oil is no small detail on this blade set. A dry blade set runs harder, gets hotter and goes blunt sooner. Put a few drops of clipper oil on the teeth before you start and repeat that every ten to fifteen minutes while clipping. Afterwards, brush the hair away, wipe the blade set dry and store it dry, so the chrome finish can do its work.

Clip on a clean, dry coat: sand and dried sweat blunt a blade set faster than the clipping itself. Use the clipper oil and the cleaning products from our range. Once the blade set has gone blunt, you can have it sharpened by us. We work on all brands and all clippers, with a waiting time of one to two weeks, and we ask you to hand the blade set in properly cleaned, as dirty blades carry a surcharge.

Choose this blade set if you have a clipper with an A5 fitting and are looking for a steel, rust-resistant blade set with a cutting height of 1.5 mm for regular clipping work on horses. It is the usual length for the body and the most useful blade set to start with.

If you want a shorter, tighter finish, you move to a 1.2 mm blade set within the same system. If your main concern is heat build-up during long clipping sessions, look at the CeramicEdge blade sets in our Andis range. If you have a Wahl 5-in-1 clipper such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar, or a Heiniger that works with screw-on blades such as the Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, this blade set does not fit.

Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set works on the A5 snap-on system. You find that system on Andis clippers with a detachable blade set, on the Oster A5, on the Wahl KM range and on the Heiniger Saphir and Opal. Blade sets from those brands are interchangeable on that system. On a Wahl 5-in-1 clipper such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar this blade set does not fit. How short does this blade set clip?
The cutting height is 1.5 mm. That is the usual length for a full or partial clip on the body.

Is a number 10 the same with every brand?
No. The numbering says something about the cutting height within that brand's own range, but it is not standardised between brands. A blade set from another brand with the same number can therefore fit mechanically and still give a different cutting height. So always look at the value in millimetres for the specific item.

What is the difference with a CeramicEdge blade set?
This UltraEdge blade set has a steel cutting edge with a chrome finish and is built around rust resistance and strength. On CeramicEdge the cutting plate is ceramic, which according to Andis runs cooler. Both fit the same A5 snap-on system.

Can I have this blade set sharpened?
Yes. We sharpen blades and blade sets of all brands and all clippers, with a waiting time of one to two weeks. You bring the blade set in properly cleaned or you send it to us; dirty blades carry a surcharge.

How often should I lubricate while clipping?
A few drops before you start and every ten to fifteen minutes after that. Oil limits friction and so keeps the blade set running more smoothly and cooler.

Do I need tools to change the blade set?
No. A snap-on blade set clicks on and off the clipper. No screwdriver is needed and there is nothing to adjust.
