Heiniger Saphir Clipper Blade Horse 10WF 1.5 mm

After every clip, brush the hairs out from between the teeth and put clipper oil on the cutting edge before you put the blade set away. While clipping, oil regularly too: the oil carries the heat away and keeps the blades running smoothly. Store the blade set dry, because moisture and hair residue attack the cutting edge sooner.

Always clip a clean, dry coat: sand and mud blunt a cutting edge faster than the hair itself. Have your blade sets and blades sharpened in good time instead of using them until they pull: a blunt cutting edge runs hotter and gives an uneven clipping result. If you have a second blade set with a different cutting height, you switch easily between the body and the finer areas without putting your machine down for long.

This blade set is the logical choice for the large areas: neck, shoulder, flank and hindquarters in a full or partial clip in autumn and winter. With sport horses that work hard and sweat quickly, 1.5 mm is a useful length, because the horse dries faster without being left with no coat at all.

For fine work around the head, ears and legs you steer more easily with a narrower blade set such as the #10 (1.5 mm) or the #15 (1.2 mm). If you want it shorter still, you choose the #15W (1.0 mm); if you want to leave more coat on, the #10W (2.3 mm) or the #7 (3.2 mm). If you work with an Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, you need a screw-on blade set instead of a snap-on one.

Clip a clean, dry coat and click the blade set onto the clipper without tools and without readjusting the blade tension. Use it for the neck, shoulder, flank and hindquarters, and oil regularly while clipping.

Does this fit my clipper?
The blade set fits the Heiniger Saphir and the Heiniger Opal. It does not fit a Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, because those work with screw-on blades. If your machine is not listed, get in touch before you order.

How short does this blade set clip?
The cutting height is 1.5 mm. That gives a short, even coat and is a common length for the body.

What is the difference with the #10W?
The #10W clips at 2.3 mm and so leaves more coat on. This #10WF clips at 1.5 mm.

What does the W mean?
The W stands for wide: a broader cutting swathe than a standard blade set from the same range.

Can I use this blade set on both my Saphir and my Opal?
Yes, Heiniger confirms that the blade sets of both machines are interchangeable with each other.

Why use a wide blade set on a horse?
A wider cutting swathe means fewer passes over the same area. You are finished sooner and you have to overlap less, which helps to avoid lines in the coat.

How often should I oil while clipping?
Regularly, and certainly as soon as the blade set feels warmer or moves more slowly through the coat. Oil carries the heat away and keeps the blades running smoothly.

Can this blade set be sharpened?
Yes. Maddelin sharpens blades and blade sets of all makes. Hand them in properly cleaned.
