Product Information

The Samshield Jella Premium is a women's competition shirt from a closed Samshield collection. Samshield no longer documents the model. With us it is stocked in white, from size XXS to XL, and in navy in size M. The white range is thereby one of the widest on our Samshield rails.

About this competition shirt

Samshield has taken the Jella Premium model off its site and lists it as no longer available. As a result, no fibre composition, no weight, no sleeve length, no collar type and no fastening can be obtained from the manufacturer any more. A UPF rating and a description of the fabric are no longer to be found at Samshield either. Jella Premium is moreover a line name of the manufacturer, not an indication of a property of the shirt.

What is established comes from our own item: a women's competition shirt in two colours, with the white range from XXS to XL and navy in size M. That broad white range is the practical argument for this shirt: it is one of the few Samshield shirts here where you can genuinely choose from five sizes in white, including at the ends.

White is also the colour with the widest use in the ring. In showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3 requires a white collar and a white tie, stock or choker, and for children and pony riders the whole shirt is white. The Belgian dressage rulebook requires a white shirt; in dressage the FEI prescribes nothing about the shirt itself, only a white or off-white stock or tie. The navy version therefore falls outside those classes and is a choice for warming up, schooling, training shows and classes in which the colour is free. Regulations differ by federation, by discipline, by level and by country and change regularly, so check your own federation's rulebook.

Limitations: white shows sand, hoof grease and make-up straight away, so keep the shirt apart from your schooling clothes and treat stains with cold water before they dry. Of navy only one size is left. And because the model is no longer in production, an identical second piece within the year is not a certainty; if you want a shirt you can buy again, choose a model from the current collection.

Take white if this is to be your competition shirt and navy if it is mainly for warming up and schooling. Keep the white piece apart from your schooling clothes and treat stains with cold water straight away. In its general care guidance Samshield states washing inside out at 30 to 40 degrees, without fabric softener and without bleach, and not in the tumble dryer; for white pieces it advises a separate wash with the stains pre-treated, and for two-tone pieces colour-catcher sheets. It publishes no instruction per model, so follow the care label in the shirt. Hang it up afterwards rather than folding it.

Choose this shirt if you want a white competition shirt and your size sits at the small or the large end of the range: XXS and XL are both available here. If you want a shirt whose fabric, fastening and finish the manufacturer documents in full, the Samshield Elsa Boreal, the Samshield Marina with a full-length zip and the Samshield Roxy Premium with a magnetic collar are the alternatives from the current collection. If you need a short sleeve for warm days, the Samshield Aliosha or the Samshield Apolline Premium suits better.

This model comes here in white and in navy, and those two do not go into one drum together: across the brand Samshield asks that white be kept separate. Leave fabric softener out as well, because it lays a film on technical fabric and slows moisture transport. Samshield publishes no instruction per model, so take the care label as your guide. Hang the shirt up rather than folding it, and if needed iron it inside out on the lowest setting.

What is this shirt made of?

Samshield publishes no fibre composition for this model. The product page has been taken off samshield.com and lists the model as no longer available. The composition is on the care label in the shirt.

Does this shirt have long or short sleeves?

Samshield no longer states the sleeve length for this model. Look at the photographs with the item, or compare with a piece in the shop.

What does Premium mean in the name?

It is a Samshield line name, not a property of the product. What sets that line apart technically, the manufacturer does not document for this model.

Which sizes are there?

White in XXS (EU32 - IT36), XS (EU34 - IT38), S (EU36 - IT40), L (EU40 - IT44) and XL (EU42 - IT46); navy in M (EU38 - IT42). The EU and the IT equivalent is shown with each size. Samshield publishes no size guide in centimetres.

Can I wear the navy version at a competition?

That depends on the class. In showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3 requires a white collar and a white tie, stock or choker, and for children and pony riders a fully white shirt. The Belgian dressage rulebook requires a white shirt. For such classes, take the white version. Check your own federation's rulebook.

Does this shirt offer sun protection?

Samshield states no UPF rating for this model.

How do I keep the white looking good?

Wash it separately from coloured pieces, pre-treat stains and do not let them dry before dealing with them. Across the brand Samshield advises 30 to 40 degrees, inside out, without fabric softener and without bleach, and not in the tumble dryer.
