Wash the shirt inside out with the zip closed, so the mesh and the Rocks along the zip are spared. Samshield states across its range a machine wash at 30 to 40 degrees, without fabric softener and without bleach, and no tumble dryer. Choose this Boreal version if you ride on warm days and put targeted ventilation above coverage. If you do not need that mesh, or if you want more coverage under an open jacket, the standard Samshield Roxy Premium is the alternative: Samshield states the same cut, collar and fastening for it, simply without mesh. If you want a full-length zip for quick changes between classes, the Samshield Marina suits you better. What is the difference with the standard Roxy Premium?

The mesh. Samshield states the same cut, the same high collar, the same magnetic fastening and the same finishing for both versions; on the Boreal the line about the mesh panels is added.

What is this shirt made of?

Samshield speaks of a technical Italian weave, but publishes no fibre composition with percentages for this model. As soon as the manufacturer supplies it, it will join the technical features.

Does the UPF figure apply to the mesh as well?

Samshield states UPF 50+ for this model without expressly limiting that value to the non-mesh sections, although it does so on a few other models. It is a manufacturer's figure, with no standard and no test method, and no CE marking or declaration of conformity comes with the product.

Which size is available?

At Maddelin only XS (EU34 - IT38), with the EU and the IT equivalent alongside. Samshield publishes no size guide in centimetres.

Is this a shirt for cold days?

Less so. The mesh panels are there precisely to let air through. For a cold morning you will be warmer in a plain model from the range.

May I wear this shirt at a competition?

That depends on your federation's rulebook. In showjumping, article 207.2.3 of the FEI Jumping Rules requires a white collar, a white tie, stock or choker, and for children and pony riders a fully white shirt. The Belgian dressage rulebook requires a white shirt. Rules differ by federation, by discipline, by level and by country and change regularly, so check the rulebook of your own federation.
