Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

The Samshield Protection Bag is a protective bag for your riding helmet. It is made to store and carry your helmet safely, whether you are driving to a competition, heading off to training or simply want to put your helmet away neatly in the tack room. The soft inner lining keeps the outer shell looking good, the sturdy outside takes the dust and the rubbing.

About this helmet bag

A riding helmet rarely stays still. It travels in the car, stands in the trailer, lies in the tack locker among brushes, buckles and zips. That is exactly where the finish takes damage: small scratches on the shell, dust in the vents, a buckle rubbing against the lacquer. This bag solves that by giving the helmet its own place.

The inside is softly lined, so the outer shell does not rub straight against a hard fabric. The outside is made from durable, wear-resistant materials and therefore stands up to daily use itself. The zip runs open and closed smoothly, so you get the helmet out quickly at the lorry or put it away just as quickly after your test.

The design stays compact. The bag takes up little space and so fits easily in the car, the trailer or the tack locker. A carrying strap makes taking it along more comfortable, also when you still have a saddle bag or a boot bag with you.

The look is deliberately plain: minimalist, with a discreet Samshield logo, in line with the finish of the helmets themselves.

Only put your helmet away once it is dry. A damp liner that ends up in a closed bag starts to smell and dries slowly. After a wet ride, let the helmet air out at room temperature first, away from direct heat, and then put it in the bag.

Avoid putting loose items such as spurs, buckles or a bit in the bag next to the helmet. Those are exactly the objects that cause the scratches you want to protect the helmet from.

The bag itself you keep clean with a slightly dampened cloth. Let it dry open before you use it again.

This bag is meant for anyone who moves their helmet around regularly: to competitions, to the riding school, between yard and car. It is just as useful for anyone who simply keeps the helmet in the tack room and wants to avoid dust and scratches on it.

If you are mainly after a luxurious presentation or a bag with more storage for extra kit, a roomier helmet bag model from our range makes more sense. If you mainly want straightforward, everyday protection for your helmet, this bag is enough.
