With a crank noseband the adjustment matters more than with a plain noseband, precisely because you can close it more evenly. Keep two fingers of room between the strap and the nasal bone as a guide, and check that the padded rear section lies flat against the jaw without folding. Keep the strap well above the lower edge of the nose.

Look after the ordinary leather with saddle soap and a leather balm, and keep those products away from the patent finish. Wipe the patent leather with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Full-grain leather benefits from regular feeding in thin layers rather than an occasional thick one. Let wet leather dry at room temperature.

If you would rather not have a crank noseband, a model with a plain noseband or a combined noseband from our range is the better choice. If you are after a fully matt bridle, a version without patent leather fits that idea better. Bear in mind, too, that you will still need reins. For using a particular noseband in the competition arena, always check the current rules of your discipline and federation.

What is full-grain leather?
Leather in which the top and strongest layer of the hide has been left intact. That makes it stronger and more hard-wearing, but it needs feeding regularly.

How do I care for the patent leather?
Wipe the patent finish with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth and do not apply grease or oil to it. The ordinary leather can be treated with leather balm.
