Description
The Roeckl Jineta is a winter glove from Roeckl's women's line: a windproof ROECK-PROOF® EVO Denali back of the hand, a MICRO-AIR laminated palm and an EVO Lining of 90 g/m² as the lining. Roeckl describes the back of the hand as windproof and the MICRO-AIR palm as breathable. At Maddelin in black, in sizes 6 to 8.
About these riding gloves
On the Jineta, the back of the hand is made in ROECK-PROOF® EVO Denali. Roeckl explicitly describes that back of the hand as windproof; the manufacturer adds no test value and says nothing about waterproofing. For the palm, Roeckl chooses a different material.
For that palm, Roeckl uses MICRO-AIR laminated, which the manufacturer describes as breathable. Laminated means it is bonded to an extra layer; Roeckl does not say which layer that is. It is the zone where the rein runs through your hand.
Roeckl gives a concrete figure for the lining: EVO Lining of 90 g/m². That weight is a concrete specification from the manufacturer. Roeckl links no temperature range or warmth rating to it, so how warm the glove feels to you depends on how and for how long you ride.
As the cut, Roeckl lists COMFORT-CUT, without explaining exactly what that cut changes. Roeckl makes the Jineta in sizes 6 to 8.5; Maddelin carries sizes 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5 and 8. As the fastening, the manufacturer names an easy closure.
What is distinctive about this model is the design: Roeckl works fine glitter details into the glove and makes it in black and in black with a rainbow effect. Roeckl itself speaks of a fine glitter stripe as a subtle accent. Maddelin carries the black version. One difference from the thin summer models should be mentioned here: Roeckl does not list the Jineta as touchscreen compatible, whereas the Malta and the Lusita are. If you want to use your mobile with the glove on, do not count on that with this model.
Black can be used in the dressage arena as soon as your jacket is black, and in the eventing dressage test black is explicitly permitted. For care, Roeckl's brand-wide guidance applies: there are no model-specific washing instructions, the label inside the glove is the source, and a lined glove should not be turned inside out.

When to choose this product
Who it is for and when. For the rider with a narrow hand who keeps riding through autumn and winter and wants a winter glove with a breathable palm. Daily training, hacking and competitions in the colder months. The properties Roeckl lists, a windproof back of the hand and a breathable palm, are not tied to one discipline: they are just as useful in dressage, showjumping and eventing.
How the Jineta differs from four other Roeckl models at Maddelin. The Jineta has a ROECK-PROOF® EVO Denali back of the hand and a lining for which Roeckl states the weight: EVO Lining 90 g/m². The Julia is the other winter option — ROECK-PROOF® Ural on the back of the hand and a laminated ROECK-GRIP® palm, so ROECK-GRIP® in the palm instead of MICRO-AIR, and in three colours up to size 8.5. The Malta has ROECK-GRIP® all round, the Lusita SUPREMA by ROECKL with a ROECK-AIR palm and Swarovski crystals on the fastening, the Laila 2 suntan™ Mesh with a MICRO-AIR palm. Roeckl lists no lining for those last three.
When another model is a better fit. If you need a size above 8, Maddelin does not carry the Jineta; the ROECK-GRIP WINTER and the Weldon come in black up to size 11. And if you want to use your mobile with the glove on, look at the Weldon for winter, or at the Malta or the Lusita: Roeckl explicitly lists touchscreen compatibility for those, not for the Jineta.
Each discipline has its own rules. Gloves are compulsory in dressage: internationally in white, off-white or the colour of your jacket, and under Paardensport Vlaanderen in white, buff or the colour of the jacket. A black glove therefore falls within that rule as soon as your jacket is black. In the eventing dressage test, black is explicitly permitted, whatever the colour of your jacket. In showjumping and cross-country, gloves are not compulsory but are permitted, and there is no colour requirement. In driving they are compulsory, for the groom as well, which is straight away a reason to have a second pair. Under the LRV they are optional, with white preferred for dressage. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check the current rules of your own federation.
Fit
Five sizes: 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5 and 8. Roeckl makes the Jineta up to 8.5; Maddelin carries sizes 6 to 8.
Measure around the knuckles with a loose fist, excluding the thumb, and divide by 2.7. Size 7.5 thus comes out at about 20.3 cm, size 8 at 21.6 cm.
Do not take an extra size for the lining. Roeckl states the EVO Lining at 90 g/m², but no separate sizing rule for lined models. The Jineta has COMFORT-CUT and an easy closure. Roeckl does not say what that cut changes: the sizes remain a guide, with the requirement that the glove fits like a second skin.

Expert advice
Do not choose a larger size just because it is a winter glove. Roeckl gives no separate sizing rule for lined models and asks here too for a glove that fits like a second skin.
Pull the glove on fully until your fingertips sit in the tips before you close the easy closure.
The Jineta is a model for the colder months. For spring and summer, add a second pair, such as the Lusita, the Laila 2 or the Malta; Roeckl lists no lining for those three.
If the label allows machine washing: if your pair has a hook-and-loop fastening, close it neatly first, do not turn the glove inside out, wash on a delicate cycle or at 30 °C without fabric softener and let the gloves dry flat at room temperature, not on the radiator.
A manufacturer's logo of up to 3 cm² is permitted in the international competition arena. A sponsor logo on gloves is not.
Use & care
A winter glove with a laminated palm and a stated lining of 90 g/m². If the pair comes back wet from the yard or the hack, it does not go straight into the cupboard: first let it dry flat at room temperature, not on the radiator and not in front of a hairdryer.
Never turn a lined model inside out, not even to get the lining dry faster. If the label allows machine washing, close any hook-and-loop fastening neatly first and use a laundry bag, as Roeckl's brand-wide guidance recommends.
Roeckl lists no touchscreen compatibility for this model, so you take the glove off for your phone. The rest of the washing advice in short: delicate cycle or 30 °C, no fabric softener, no tumble dryer. The label inside the glove applies to your pair, and machine washing requires the label machine washable there.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the Jineta a model for the cold months?
The combination of a ROECK-PROOF® EVO Denali back of the hand, which Roeckl describes as windproof, with a stated lining of 90 g/m². Roeckl gives no temperature range for it.
What does Roeckl say about the properties of ROECK-PROOF®?
For this model, Roeckl describes the ROECK-PROOF® back of the hand as windproof and the MICRO-AIR palm as breathable. It says nothing about waterproofing, and gives no test value or standard for either.
How much feel on the rein do you keep?
Roeckl gives no measurable value for that. What is established: the palm is MICRO-AIR laminated, described by Roeckl as breathable, and the manufacturer asks for a riding glove that fits like a second skin.
What does that 90 g/m² mean?
The weight of the EVO Lining, as stated by Roeckl. The manufacturer links no temperature range or warmth rating to it.
Does the glove work on a touchscreen?
Roeckl does not list that for this model, unlike for the Malta and the Lusita.
Which sizes and colours does Maddelin carry in the Jineta?
Black, in sizes 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5 and 8. Roeckl makes the model up to 8.5 and, alongside 9000 black, also offers 9598 black/rainbow.
Should I take a size larger for the lining?
Roeckl gives no separate sizing rule for lined models and asks for a glove that fits like a second skin: divide the circumference around your knuckles, excluding the thumb, by 2.7 and take that size.
Is black allowed at competitions?
In dressage, white, off-white or the colour of your jacket apply, and under Paardensport Vlaanderen buff as well: with a black jacket, black works. In the eventing dressage test, black is explicitly permitted. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly, so check the current rules of your own federation.
How do you wash a lined glove with glitter details?
With the label machine washable: close any hook-and-loop fastening neatly first, in a laundry bag, delicate cycle or 30 °C, no fabric softener, do not turn inside out and not in the tumble dryer.
