The Roeckl ROECK-GRIP WINTER is the winter version of the well-known ROECK-GRIP. Roeckl lists ROECK-GRIP® laminated for this model, on both the back of the hand and the palm, with an easy closure. Designed for riders who keep riding through the cold months and want to stay with the same material. At Maddelin in black and white in sizes 6 to 11 with half sizes, and in navy in size 7.5.
About these riding gloves
If you are used to the standard ROECK-GRIP and do not want to switch gloves in January, this is the model you will end up with. Roeckl places the ROECK-GRIP WINTER in the same material family: ROECK-GRIP® laminated on the back of the hand and in the palm. Roeckl itself describes the ROECK-GRIP material as breathable, stretchy and supple, and says it fits like a second skin. Laminated means it is bonded to an extra layer; Roeckl does not say which layer that is. Roeckl does not publish fibre percentages for this model either, and the composition is on the label inside the glove.
There is one difference from the standard ROECK-GRIP that you need to know before buying: Roeckl lists no touchscreen compatibility for the ROECK-GRIP WINTER, whereas the standard ROECK-GRIP does have that feature. If you want to use your phone in the cold without taking the glove off, the Weldon is a winter model in the Roeckl range at Maddelin that Roeckl does list as touchscreen compatible. Fit
The size range runs from 6 to 11 in half sizes, but not equally far in every colour. Maddelin carries black and white in the full range, so you will find white in every size for the dressage arena. Navy is only in the range in size 7.5.
Sizing at Roeckl: knuckle circumference with a loose fist, thumb left out, and divide that circumference by 2.7. Size 8 thus comes out at 21.6 cm, size 10 at 27.0 cm.
Even if you know your size in the standard ROECK-GRIP, measure again. This is the laminated version, ROECK-GRIP® laminated, and Roeckl gives no separate size guide for it. Roeckl documents no separate cut for this model; the sizes remain a guide and the glove should fit like a second skin.

Expert advice
Only buy this glove in the size you wear in the standard ROECK-GRIP after measuring your hand again. The material is different, ROECK-GRIP® laminated, and Roeckl publishes no separate size guide for the winter version.
Bear in mind that Roeckl lists no touchscreen compatibility for this model. If you often hack out alone and want to keep your phone to hand, that is an argument for the Weldon.
After a wet ride, do not leave the gloves on the heating. Drying flat at room temperature and putting them on a few times while they dry brings them back into shape, according to Roeckl.
If you drive in winter, plan on two pairs: the rules require gloves for the driver and for the groom.
Use & care
Let the cuff run under the sleeve of your jacket if the sleeve is narrow, and over it if the sleeve is wide. Roeckl lists no touchscreen compatibility for this version: for your phone you take the glove off, preferably by the cuff rather than by the fingertips.
After a wet hack or the round at the yard, this model does not go into the cupboard wet. Lay the pair flat on a dry towel at room temperature — not on the radiator, not in full sun and not in front of a hairdryer. And never turn a laminated glove inside out, not even to get the inside dry faster.
If the pair goes in the machine and has a hook-and-loop fastening, close it neatly first. Whether this model carries the label machine washable is not confirmed: the label inside the glove is the source for that. If it carries that label, use a delicate cycle or 30 °C, without fabric softener and without the tumble dryer. Wash the white version separately from the black and navy pairs.
