For breeches with a full silicone seat the general rule is to wash them inside out and not to tumble dry them. Fabric softener is best avoided, because it can settle on the silicone and reduce the grip. Always check this on the label.

Wear the breeches with a smooth riding boot or half chaps so the silicone seat can work freely against the saddle. A Full Grip comes into its own on a saddle with a smooth seat; on a heavily grained or rough saddle the grip feels much more intense.

Choose this Emiel Full Grip if you ride a lot in a full seat and want to stay stable on your seat bones. Riders on a young or sensitive horse who want to keep their seat very quiet also benefit from a full silicone seat. For daily training work this is a solid, comfortable choice.

A Full Grip is not ideal for everyone. If you ride mainly in a light seat and want to move forward and back freely, the full seat works against you rather than for you. In that case the Emiel Knee Grip from the same model is the better choice: identical fabric and pockets, but with silicone on the knee only. If you are still finding your seat, many riders learn more easily with a Knee Grip, because you feel sooner when you slide.

With Full Grip the whole seat is covered in silicone, which gives maximum stability in a full seat. With Knee Grip the silicone sits on the knee only, so your seat stays free and you can slide more easily in a light seat.

Are these breeches suitable for competition?
They are technical riding breeches without specific competition restrictions, but they only exist in the colour Blueberry. For competitions where light-coloured breeches are expected, a white model from our range is the better choice.
