Expert advice
For detail work, work in short spells and oil the blade regularly. A small blade heats up quickly because it has little mass and often works close against the coat. Check in between that the blade is not getting too hot and take a break if it is. After use you brush the hair out of the teeth, wipe the blade dry and apply a thin layer of oil.
For a calm session, clip the detail areas last, once the horse is used to the sound and the vibration of the machine. If the blade goes blunt, you can have it sharpened; we do that for all brands and all machines, provided the blades are handed in properly cleaned.
