Clip the breastplate onto the central snap hook before you tighten the girth, then fold the leather flap over it. Next, tighten alternately left and right so the elastic is stretched roughly the same amount on both sides and the saddle stays centred. Check again after warming up.

If you use draw reins, attach them to the D-rings on the sides, not to the central snap hook. Condition the leather regularly and let the girth dry slowly after a wet ride.
