BR Tendon Boots Event

Close the hook-and-loop with even pressure over the whole length and then lay the flap over it; it is not there for decoration. Do not pull until the hook-and-loop is taut, but until you can slide a flat finger underneath, and check again after ten minutes of riding. Rinse the boots under the tap after use, because sand between shell and lining rubs. Close all the hook-and-loop before they go into the machine, otherwise it fills with hair and loses its grip. Machine washing is allowed up to 30 °C, in a wash bag and with a delicate detergent; not in the tumble dryer, as the heat distorts the shell.

Choose the Event if you want a simple hook-and-loop boot that goes on quickly and colour counts for you, for instance to put a set together or to keep a colour of its own for each horse. If you want an extra reinforced impact zone at the back and a lining whose thickness is stated, you end up with the BR Xcellence tendon boot. If you ride a lot and for long stretches and want a ventilated shell with a breathable lining, the BR XO2 tendon boot or the BR CLX XO2 tendon boots make more sense. If you prefer to work without hook-and-loop, the BR Ultimo tendon boots with quick-release fastenings are handier. For training, hacking and warming up the Event does the job; in the international dressage arena it may not be used.

Hold the boot against the inside of the front leg, with the shell over the tendon and the bottom edge around the fetlock. Do not start pulling the straps from the top: begin at the bottom and work upwards with the same tension, so that a flat finger fits underneath. Fold the flap over the hook-and-loop once everything is in place. Ride for a few minutes and then check that nothing has shifted. Rinse them after use; washing is allowed at 30 °C in a wash bag with the hook-and-loop closed, and do not dry them in the tumble dryer.

How does the Event differ from the other BR tendon boots?

The Event is the most simply built model: polyurethane shell, neoprene lining, hook-and-loop with a flap. No separate impact zone as on the Xcellence, no ventilation holes and breathable lining as on the XO2, no quick-release fastening as on the Ultimo. Against that stands the widest choice of colour.

What is the hook-and-loop flap for?

It lays itself over the hook-and-loop fastenings and keeps them shut, so that they cannot pick themselves open while you ride.

How many colours are there?

BR makes the Event in more than thirty colours. We stock twelve. The BR Event line also includes a saddle pad, brushing boots and an ear bonnet in the same colours.

Which sizes are there?

Shetland, Pony and Full. Not every colour comes in every size; most colours are there in Full.

How do I clean them?

Rinse them under the tap after riding. Really dirty boots can go into the machine at up to 30 °C, in a wash bag and with a delicate detergent. Close all the hook-and-loop first and do not use a tumble dryer.

Are there ventilation holes?

No. The shell is closed and the lining is neoprene, so underneath it gets warmer and damper than under an open bandage. If you want ventilation, look at the BR XO2.

May I use them at competitions?

BR says nothing about this itself. For international showjumping, front leg boots are currently subject to no requirements as to shape; the limit of 500 grams for everything worn together on one leg does apply, and BR does not state a weight in grams. In the competition arena at international dressage events, boots are forbidden and must be removed before entering the space around the competition arena. Nationally, the rules of your own federation apply.

Can I use them behind as well?

No. A tendon boot is for the front leg. For the hind legs you use fetlock boots.
