Description
The Parlanti Miami Pro is a jumping boot with elastic laces at the instep, handmade in full-grain calf leather. A leg reinforced with microfibre, a microfibre lining, spur rests on the foot and a reinforced zip at the back set it apart from an ordinary laced boot. Maddelin carries the Miami Pro in black and in dark brown.
About this riding boot
Parlanti describes the Miami Pro as a jumping boot. It is the laced version alongside the Denver Pro: the same calf leather base and the same size guide, but with elastic laces at the front and a leg that Parlanti reinforces with microfibre.
Laces and a reinforced leg
The elastic laces at the instep are combined with an elastic band at the back. Parlanti states that the leg, reinforced with microfibre, provides suppleness and contact. The inner lining is also microfibre, which the manufacturer describes as a soft and strong fabric.
What sits on the foot
On the sides of the foot Parlanti has stitched hard rubber spur rests, which, according to the manufacturer, keep your spurs in place. Underneath is a rubber and latex sole, with a heel in which Parlanti incorporates shock-absorbing technology. The toe is compact and semi-square.
The zip
At the back the Miami Pro closes with an enlarged, reinforced zip. According to Parlanti, a leather tab at the top prevents rubbing and shields the zip. The zip means you can leave the laces set once you have tried the boots on: you open and close the boot at the back.
Black or dark brown
Maddelin carries the black Miami Pro in size 38 (S and M+), size 40 (S+, SH and LH) and size 42 (XL+), and the dark brown in size 43 SH. In competition you wear the brown version only where your federation allows brown boots.
Which colour is allowed in the arena?
In the FEI jumping rules, black and brown boots are allowed; the boot is required to have a heel, and the Miami Pro has one. National showjumping follows those rules as a supplement. The LRV asks for black riding boots in every discipline, with or without a brown top, and explicitly allows laces: the black Miami Pro is fine there, the brown one is not. For dressage, the national rules ask for single-coloured black boots or the colour of the riding jacket, and Paardensport Vlaanderen for black or the colour of the jacket. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly; check your federation's current rulebook before you start.

Expert advice
Try on the Miami Pro with the laces slightly tensioned, then adjust them until the instep fits well. After that you can pull the boot on and off using the zip, without retying the laces each time.
Measure your leg standing, in breeches: calf, circumference below the knee and length from heel to the back of the knee, plus 1.5 cm. According to Parlanti, the boot drops by 1.5 to 2 cm on average once broken in and should fit snugly on delivery.
If you choose brown, first check whether your federation allows brown boots in your discipline. Zip spray and boot trees from the Maddelin range keep the boots in good condition.
Use & care
Putting on for the first time: set the elastic laces with the zip open, step in and close the zip. After that you only use the zip.
Breaking in: the boot fits snugly on delivery. Parlanti states that it drops by 1.5 to 2 cm on average once broken in.
Caring for the calf leather: Parlanti publishes no care instructions. Wipe off dust and mud with a soft cloth, and for black or dark brown leather use a care product in a matching colour or a neutral one, tested first on an inconspicuous spot. Keep the product away from the laces.
Storage: upright with boot trees, dry and at room temperature.
