Cavalor OilMega

The Cavalor OilMega is a liquid oil blend for horses, made up of cold-pressed linseed oil, soya oil and rapeseed oil. It is a supplement to the daily ration that supplies extra energy from fat while also providing essential fatty acids and vitamin E. The blend is rich in omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. You use it when you want to make the ration more energy-dense without relying solely on cereals or other starch-rich feeds.

About this oil

Combining linseed, soya and rapeseed oil produces a specific ratio between omega 3 and omega 6. Omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are essential: your horse needs them but does not make them itself, so they have to come in through the ration.

OilMega contains 36.04% omega 3, 19.54% omega 6 and 21.72% omega 9. Total crude fat content is 98.63%. On top of that, 5,300 mg of vitamin E per kg has been added; that vitamin E protects the fatty acids in the oil against oxidation, which matters most once the ration carries more fat.

Cavalor also lists a patented blend of medium-chain fatty acids (C6-C12) from tropical plants. Which fatty acids those are, and in what quantities, is not specified.

Introduce OilMega into the ration gradually:

• Day 1: 20 ml
• Day 2: 40 ml
• Day 3: 60 ml
• Day 4: 80 ml
• Day 5 onwards: 100 ml per day

After that, 100 ml a day remains the standard amount, with 500 ml per horse per day as the upper limit. Shake the bottle before use and store it in a cool, dry place. Always keep fresh drinking water available.

Do not move faster than that schedule. Introducing large amounts of oil too quickly can, according to the product data, lead to bloating, gas, reduced appetite and loose droppings. Build up step by step and stay within the stated amounts.
