LeMieux Motionflex Dressage Tendon Boots

Use these boots for dressage schooling, warming up and lessons, and count on having to take them off for the competition arena. Only put them on once you have felt over and checked the leg; a thin boot does not forgive sand or a scab underneath. Tighten the wrap-around fastening until the boot does not twist and no further: you should be able to slide a finger between the edge and the skin. Washing is done by hand in lukewarm water, after which they dry at room temperature, away from a heat source, so that the TPU panel keeps its shape. Store them flat rather than rolled up.

Choose the Motionflex if you ride dressage and want a thin, pliable boot for training and warming up, with a flat profile and an airy mesh lining against the leg. If you want the same Motionflex but with a soft faux fur binding that also keeps sand and dirt out from above, the LeMieux Motionflex Dressage Boot with faux fur is the variant for that; it is a little softer on the edge and a little fuller. If you jump courses, a tendon boot with a moulded shell and brushing protection belongs on the leg, such as the LeMieux Exo-Flex Tendon Boots. None of these models is meant for the competition arena itself: boots may not come in there.

Feel over the leg first and wipe it clean. Lay the boot around the lower leg so that the moulded TPU panel covers the back of the tendon, and fold the wrap-around fastening closed over itself, each time in the same direction. Tighten until the boot no longer twists; you should be able to slide a finger between the edge and the skin. Wash by hand in lukewarm water, let dry at room temperature away from a heat source, and store flat.

May I use these dressage boots in the competition arena?

Not at international dressage events. Boots and bandages are forbidden in the competition arena and must already be off before entering the space around the competition arena. In the warm-up arena and during training they are allowed. For national competitions, the rules of the national federation apply.

What is this model for, then?

For dressage schooling, warming up and lessons: all the moments when the horse is working without standing in the competition arena.

What is the difference with the version with faux fur?

This is the same Motionflex model with a light mesh lining and without a faux fur binding, which keeps it thinner and flatter. The faux fur version has a binding in Simuwool, LeMieux's faux fur, which also keeps sand and dirt out from above.

What is TPU?

A firm but pliable plastic. The moulded panel over tendon and joint bends along instead of breaking and keeps its shape.

Can they go in the washing machine?

No. LeMieux specifies hand washing in lukewarm water and explicitly no machine wash. Let them air dry afterwards.

Which colours and sizes are there?

White and black, in sizes M and L.

Are they sturdy enough to jump fences in?

It is a thin, pliable model. For jumping work you are better off with a tendon boot with a moulded shell and brushing protection.
