LeMieux Motion Cool Tendon Boots

This is a boot for everyday schooling, warming up and hacking, not for heavy jumping work. Wipe it with a damp cloth after every ride: the manufacturer does not allow washing, and sand left sitting in the perforations will rub. Then let it dry at room temperature, away from a heat source, because dry heat makes neoprene hard and crumbly. Tighten the straps until the boot no longer twists and no further: you should be able to slide a finger between the edge and the skin. Because this model cannot be washed, brushing it out after every ride and letting it dry completely matters all the more.

Choose the Motion Cool if you want a light, soft tendon boot for the front legs for everyday schooling, warming up and hacking, and if your horse has too little freedom of movement in a stiff boot. If you jump courses and want a moulded shell with brushing protection over the tendon, the LeMieux Exo-Flex Tendon Boots suit you better. Can they go in the washing machine?

No. LeMieux explicitly states 'wipe clean only': wipe with a damp cloth and then let them dry at room temperature, away from a heat source.

What is Airprene?

Perforated neoprene. The perforations run through the material, so that air can pass along the leg and heat and moisture can escape from under the boot.

Is there a hard shell in them?

LeMieux describes this as a pliable, light boot and documents no hard outer shell or brushing pad. For heavy jumping work you are therefore better off with a model with a moulded shell.

Which colours and sizes do you have?

Black, brown and navy. The model runs in sizes M and L, but not every size is still available in every colour.

May I use them in the dressage arena?

Not at international dressage events: boots and bandages have to be off before you enter the space around the competition arena. In the warm-up arena and during training it is allowed.

How much do they weigh?

LeMieux states no weight per boot for this model. For international showjumping events a limit of 500 grams does apply to everything that sits on one leg together.

How do they differ from the LeMieux Exo-Flex?

The Motion Cool is a soft, pliable boot with an Airprene lining and hook-and-loop fastening. The Exo-Flex has an open TPU skeleton shell, brushing protection behind the tendon and along the fetlock, a shock-absorbing ACF layer and interchangeable rotating straps.
