The Sprenger MAX-Control Bit is an innovative training bit that looks and feels like a classic double-jointed bit but is equipped with a smart locking mechanism. This system provides extra control only when the horse leans against the bit – without permanent harsh action.
The MAX-Control bit was developed for riders facing specific training problems, such as horses that brace, become strong, or evade the hand. In a relaxed state, this bit functions entirely as a normal double-jointed bit: flexible, anatomical, and comfortable in the mouth.
However, when the horse leans against the hand or becomes strong, the internal mechanism automatically activates. The bit temporarily locks, creating a light leverage effect. This provides a clear, corrective impulse. As soon as the horse yields again, the bit immediately unlocks and returns to its flexible function.
