About this bridle

This bridle is built from buffalo leather. Buffalo leather has a slightly more open grain than cowhide and is known for its strength and suppleness; in durability it is no less than cowhide. In practice that means a bridle that feels sturdy but gives quickly.

The headpiece is anatomically shaped and made in soft leather with cooling gel padding. Gel behaves differently from foam: it deforms under load and spreads the pressure across the whole contact area instead of only the highest points. Together with the anatomical shape, that gives a quieter fit behind the ears.

The noseband is a patent leather crank noseband. Crank means the noseband is tightened by a rear closure, so it closes evenly around the nose instead of pulling to one side. The noseband is softly padded and reduces pressure, and the chin pad is made without stitching so no seam comes against the skin. The crank strap is positioned so that it cannot damage the skin. A silver-coloured rock piping runs along the edge, giving a subtle shine.

The wave browband is removable and set with silver-coloured decorative stones that match the finish of the noseband. Thanks to the press-stud closure you swap it in seconds, for example a restrained one for daily work and a sparkling one at a competition.

Practical advice

This bridle comes in Pony, Cob and Full. Measure the nose circumference about two fingers below the cheekbone and the distance from lip corner to lip corner across the nose; compare those with a bridle that currently fits your horse well. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: the crank closure gives you play at the lower end, not extra length.

Do not tighten the crank noseband more than necessary. Two fingers just below the noseband is the norm; because of the crank closure it closes faster than you expect, and you only feel the resistance late.

Patent leather is cared for differently from smooth leather. Wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and buff it gently; keep greasy products away from the patent surface and limit conditioning to the matt leather parts. Regularly clean sweat and dust from the gel-padded inside of the headpiece.
