Practical advice

To choose the size, measure the noseband circumference and the cheekpiece length of a bridle that fits your horse well. Pony is intended for ponies and small horses, Cob for medium-built horses and Full for the average warmblood. If your horse has a long head on a narrow nose, pay particular attention to the cheekpiece length.

When fitting, place the noseband roughly two fingers below the cheekbone and keep at least two fingers of room between the strap and the nasal bone. The headpiece should not press against the base of the ears anywhere; adjust the cheekpieces to the same length on both sides so the bit sits level in the mouth.

New leather needs a little time. Rub the bridle with a thin layer of leather balm when you first use it, then wipe it dry after every ride. Clean the straps with glycerine soap every few weeks and feed them afterwards. Havana leather gradually darkens to a deeper tone; that comes with the material.
