About this bridle

On a dressage bridle the difference usually lies in the details you do not notice straight away. On the Kudos that is the anatomically shaped headpiece. It is generously padded and cut so that it sits wider behind the ears, spreading the weight of the bridle over a larger surface instead of resting on a narrow strap. That is exactly where a horse notices it most during longer work.

The noseband is a combined noseband: wide, anatomically shaped and softly padded. Thanks to that shape it follows the line of the head and lies evenly, without a hard edge on the nose. Together with the headpiece, that gives you a bridle which stays quietly in place, even when your horse is still searching for the contact.

The browband is slightly curved. That is not only about looks: a curved browband leaves more room at the base of the ears than a perfectly straight strap. It is finished with crystals, subtle enough not to dominate in the dressage arena. The fittings are stainless steel, which means buckles and rings will not rust and keep their colour, even after a wet winter in the stable.

The leather is high-grade European leather. Such leather feels a little firmer for the first few rides and then softens; it slowly moulds to your horse's head and then holds that shape. Clean and feed it regularly and you keep that suppleness for years.

Practical advice

Choose your size based on your horse's head, not on its height. Full fits most warmbloods, Cob the finer or shorter heads, Pony the ponies. If you are torn between two sizes, measure the noseband and headpiece of your current bridle and compare.

Adjust the bridle so that the noseband sits about two fingers below the cheekbone and there is two fingers of room between the noseband and the nasal bone. Never fasten the flash strap tighter than the noseband itself: it sits in the chin groove and is there to keep everything stable.

For the leather: wipe away sweat and sand after every ride with a damp cloth and let the bridle dry at room temperature, never close to a heat source. Then clean it regularly with leather soap and feed it now and then with leather balm. The stainless steel parts you simply rub dry.

This is a bridle for the dressage rider who wants anatomic comfort without giving up the classic line. It suits daily training work as well as the arena, and looks equally right on a fine head or a heavier warmblood, as long as you take the correct size.
