Choose the fill according to the weather and your pony's coat. The 0g is meant as rain protection on mild, wet days. The 50g adds a thin extra layer for cooler days in spring and autumn. When it gets properly cold, your pony will need more insulation than this rug provides.

Adjust the cross surcingles and leg straps so that the rug does not slip but does not pinch anywhere either. For the first few days, check that the rug sits clear of the withers and that no rubbing appears at the shoulders or chest.

A pony that rolls or plays a lot in the field puts extra strain on the outer fabric. Ripstop limits how far a small tear can spread, but check the rug for minor damage after every muddy spell.

The Fondant version is aimed at owners of ponies, cobs and small horses that are turned out during the transitional seasons. Use it in wet, cool weather when a rug with no fill or a light fill is enough, whatever your discipline: dressage, showjumping or hacking.

Put the rug on and fasten the T-bar front closure first. Then do up the cross surcingles and finally the elasticated leg straps; the tail cord sits under the tail. Take the rug off in reverse order: leg straps, surcingles, front. Machine wash cold and do not use bleach. The 0g must not be tumble dried, the 50g may be, on cool air. Let the rug dry completely before storing it.

What is the difference between the 0g and the 50g?
The 0g has no fill and works as a rain sheet. The 50g has a thin layer of thermobonded fill for some extra warmth. Outer fabric, closures and cut are the same.

Is this turnout rug waterproof?
Yes. The 600 denier ripstop outer fabric has a hydrostatic head of 10,000 mm, and the seamless spine prevents leaks along the back. The fabric is breathable as well.

How do I read a size such as 95/145/4.9?
The middle number is the length in cm, the last number the LeMieux size in feet and inches: 4.9 stands for 4'9".

Does it come with a neck cover?
Yes. This Arika Ripstop comes with a detachable neck cover, so you can use the rug with or without it.

Can I use a liner underneath?
Yes. The rug has attachment points at the neck and rear for the Arika liner system.

What does ripstop mean?
A weave with a grid of reinforced threads. A small tear therefore spreads less easily than in a standard fabric.

How do I wash the rug?
Cold machine wash, without bleach. The 0g must not be tumble dried; the 50g can be tumble dried on cool air.
