Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

The Kask Star Lady Pure Shine Atlantic Chrome Gold Crystal Midnight Mixture Dune has a glossy shell in Atlantic Blue, a frame in Chrome Gold and crystals that the title calls Midnight Mixture Dune. It is a wide-peak Star Lady for dressage and show jumping. Be sure to read the standards label on this helmet: our product data point to an older production run.

About this riding helmet

Atlantic Blue with a gold-coloured frame

Atlantic Blue is one of the five colours in which Kask makes the Star Lady Pure Shine. The Chrome Gold frame and the crystals in the Midnight Mixture Dune version take this helmet outside the standard range: in the Kask configurator you choose shell, frame, chin strap and ventilation grilles separately. Kask publishes no technical data on the crystals.

How the Star Lady Pure Shine is built

The Star Lady is the wide-peak variant of the Dogma, with the peak here in polyamide 6.6. The outer shell is ABS with a glossy finish, the inner shell EPS in three densities. Two ventilation grilles with a honeycomb structure sit in the polystyrene. The liner is 100% merino wool and comes out of the helmet via the Click-in System. Kask refers to the good breathability and thermoregulation of that wool. The patented Fit System adapts to the back of your head by itself. The chin strap is faux leather.

Standards: read the label on this helmet

According to our product data, the label on this helmet states VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015, the standards of an older production run. KASK certifies its current production of the Star Lady Pure Shine to EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163-23 (with the SEI label). The standards of your helmet are shown on the label under the liner; a helmet from an older production run may carry an older standard.

For FEI competitions, that makes a difference. In 2026, VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015 are still on the FEI list. If you ride at FEI level, check the label: from 1 January 2027 the FEI only accepts VG1 in combination with one of the main standards, and from 1 January 2028 the FEI requires at least two accepted standards. EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163:23 are both on the FEI list. ASTM F1163:2015, too, only counts from 2027 in combination with one of the main standards, and then not with ASTM F1163:23. If the label shows only VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015, the helmet is therefore no longer sufficient at FEI level from 2027. Shell size and liner

Maddelin offers this helmet in shell size 57-59. With the helmet, you choose on the product page the liner in your head circumference, 57, 58 or 59 cm, and it comes free. Kask gives 586 grams for the Star Lady Pure Shine, without a weight per size.

Do you only ride in training or at national competitions? The label matters just as much: the Belgian federations require a helmet, and Equibel follows the FEI list in eventing. Before you enter, check which standards are on your helmet and what your federation asks for. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check your federation's current rules.

For dressage, the FEI and eventing dressage ask for black or dark, and Paardensport Vlaanderen for a discreet colour. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check your federation's current rules.

For transport and storage, the Kask helmet bag goes with this helmet; Kask advises storing the helmet out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

This helmet is a choice for a rider who wants a Star Lady in Atlantic Blue with a gold-coloured frame and crystals, mainly for training, show jumping and competitions where the standards on the label are sufficient.

Riding at FEI level from 2027? Then choose a helmet whose label shows EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163-23, such as the current production of the Kask Star Lady Pure Shine. A fabric-covered shell is found on the Star Lady Chrome and the Star Lady Hunter, a smaller peak on the Dogma.

Put the helmet on and let the Fit System settle at the back.
Fasten the buckle until you hear a click and pull on the strap to check.
Adjust the chin strap so that your ears stay free, the buckle sits well away from your jawbone and the helmet does not move easily forwards, backwards or sideways.
Open the buckle by pressing the side buttons at the same time.
Clean with water, neutral soap and a soft cloth; let it dry at room temperature. Wash the liner by hand in cold water or in the machine at no more than 30 °C.
Store the helmet out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

Which standards are on this helmet?

According to our product data, the label states VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015. The label under the liner is decisive: read it before you use the helmet in competition.

Can I still ride FEI competitions in this helmet in 2027?

From 1 January 2027 the FEI only accepts VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015 in combination with one of the main standards. A helmet with only those two standards is then no longer sufficient at FEI level. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check your federation's current rules.

Where is the production date?

Inside the helmet. Kask advises replacing the helmet 10 years after that date. The FEI recommends replacement every 3 to 5 years, depending on how often you ride.

How do I measure my head?

With a tape measure, just above your eyebrows and ears. You use that circumference in cm to choose the liner. Trying it on in the shop in Torhout is preferable, because Maddelin fine-tunes the fit there with fitting pads.

Do I need to replace the helmet after a fall?

Yes, after a heavy fall or knock, even if you see no damage. Kask writes that the helmet may then have lost its ability to absorb further impacts.

What warranty does Kask give?

Kask gives a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase on defects in materials or workmanship.

Are the crystals part of the standard collection?

No. The standard Star Lady Pure Shine has no crystals and a chrome frame. Crystals and a Chrome Gold frame belong to versions from the Kask configurator.
