Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

This Kask Kooki Lady is a black riding helmet with a wide peak in shell size 60/63, for riders with a head circumference of 60 to 63 cm. According to our product data, the label carries the standards VG1 01.040 2014-12 and ASTM F1163:2015, which points to an older production run. If the label states only VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015, that is no longer sufficient according to the FEI list from 1 January 2027.

About this riding helmet

The Kooki Lady is the wide-peak version of the Kask Kooki. Kask designed that peak to shield the rider better from sun and rain without restricting the view. According to Kask this is the only difference from the Kooki; Kask does not describe a separate women's fit. This helmet comes in one version: black, shell size 60/63.

Which standards are on the label?

According to our product data, the label of this helmet lists VG1 01.040 2014-12 and ASTM F1163:2015. These are older standards. KASK certifies its current production of the Kooki Lady to EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163-23 (with the SEI label). The standards of your helmet are shown on the label under the liner; a helmet from an older production run may carry an older standard.

For the FEI, that difference matters. In 2026 the FEI still accepts both VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015. From 1 January 2027 the FEI only accepts them together with one of the four main standards, and for ASTM F1163:2015, ASTM F1163:23 does not count as that partner. If the label states only VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015, that is therefore no longer sufficient according to the FEI list from 1 January 2027, and from 1 January 2028 VG1 no longer counts at all.

Construction of the Kooki Lady

Kask describes the Kooki Lady with a double shell: injection-moulded ABS on top, EPS with thermoformed polycarbonate underneath. The peak is ABS. An air inlet at the front and an outlet at the back let air flow through the helmet. The liner is breathable, hydrophilic polyester, clips in with three pins and comes out for washing. The chin strap is faux leather. Kask does not publish whether a helmet from an older production run is identical in every detail to the current one.

Shell size 60/63 and liner

This helmet has the largest shell of the Kooki Lady. The liner sets the exact size: on the product page you choose the liner in your head circumference, 60, 61, 62 or 63 cm, and it comes free with the helmet. For the 60-63 shell of the current Kooki Lady, Kask gives a weight of 550 g.

This helmet works well for training, lessons and hacking, where the wide peak gives shade. For FEI competitions from 2027, you are better off with a Kooki Lady or Nemesi from current production, which Kask certifies to EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163-23.

If you want to be sure of the standards or the production date, ask in our shop in Torhout to look at the label under the liner together. You can try it on there too: Maddelin fine-tunes the fit with fitting pads.

Kask advises replacing a helmet 10 years after the production date. With a helmet from an older production run, it is worth checking that date.

Choose this Kooki Lady if your head circumference is between 60 and 63 cm and you want a wide-peak helmet for everyday use, lessons or leisure riding.

If you ride international competitions, or want a helmet that still meets the FEI list after 2027 and 2028, choose a helmet from current production, such as the Kask Kooki Lady in the other versions or the Kask Nemesi Wide Peak. If your head circumference is smaller, this shell will not fit.

Close the buckle with an audible click and check with a tug that it holds. Keep the straps clear of your ears and the buckle clear of your jaw. Tighten the chin strap so the helmet does not wobble or press, and slide the small rubber ring to the end. To take the helmet off, press the two buttons on the buckle at the same time.

Check the helmet for cracks or deformation before every ride. Wash the liner by hand in cold water or in the machine up to 30 °C and leave it to dry at room temperature.

Can I still compete in this helmet?

That depends on the competition. In Belgium a helmet is compulsory as soon as you are mounted, and the LRV requires a riding hat with a three-point harness. If you ride at FEI level, check the label: from 1 January 2027 the FEI only accepts VG1 in combination with one of the main standards, and from 1 January 2028 the FEI requires at least two accepted standards. EN 1384:2023 and ASTM F1163:23 are both on the FEI list. If the label states only VG1 and ASTM F1163:2015, that is no longer sufficient according to the FEI list from 1 January 2027. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check your federation's current rules.

Why does this helmet carry different standards from other Kooki Lady helmets?

Standards are revised and manufacturers certify their new production to the new version. According to our data, this helmet comes from an older production run. The label under the liner is what counts.

Which liner can I choose?

With shell size 60/63 you choose a liner of 60, 61, 62 or 63 cm. It comes free with the helmet. It is also available separately as the Kask Kooki/Nemesi liner.

How do I measure my head circumference?

Place a tape measure around your head, just above your eyebrows and ears, and read the circumference in cm.

What should I do after a fall?

Replace the helmet after a heavy fall or knock, even if you see no damage. Kask states that the helmet may then absorb a following impact less well.

What is the difference from the Kooki?

The Kooki Lady has a wide peak; the Kooki a standard peak. According to Kask the rest of the helmet is the same.
